THE DAILY COMMUTE: MELBOURNE. 1958.

It’s a cold winter’s morning in Melbourne and this picture - which someone has stood on a seat to capture - shows rugged-up city workers on the morning commute to town.

The two men at left and the man lower right are reading the ‘Sun News Pictorial’, a tabloid sized newspaper. This was much easier to handle than the broadsheet sized ‘Age’ with which the person with the whicker basket is grappling.

Note the lady next to her, quietly knitting with her vinyl Air India airline bag. There was a time airlines handed these out when one booked a ticket. A clever way to control ‘carry-on‘ baggage.

This small group are travelling in a 2nd Class ‘Tait’ Victorian Railways (VR) suburban car. These sliding door cars, along with the earlier Swing Door ‘Dog-Box’ cars, were commonly known as ‘red rattlers... (as indeed were Sydney suburban trains)

Tait cars were named for VR Commissioner Sir Thomas Tait. They first ran as steam-hauled cars in 1910. The last was withdrawn in 1987.

The 2nd class cars seen here, differed from first class in terms of density and comfort. First class cars carried 32 seats compared to 50 in Second class. They both shared the same varnished timber interiors but first class had padded upholstered back & seat cushioning, compared to the single seat cushions seen here.

Interestingly, it was in this year 1958, that 1st & 2nd class was phased out in favour of a one class system, with older cars gradually removed.

But I'd told the fandom that Cait and her now husband, Tony McGill, had started dating in early 2014. I found that out thru my original Tony Glasgow source. Tony is originally from Glasgow, Scotland, and my source knew him and his family. My source's brother went to school with Tony and his brother, Joe. And, no, Cait and Tony weren't broken up in 2016 or at any point.

Here's the quote from the article above that referenced Cait supposedly being single in 2016. 👇

So, that's 2014 and 2015, Cait NOT single AND with Tony McGill, her now husband way before 2016. And again, they have never broken up.

So, that article probably just regurgitated stuff from an article in 2013, where Cait did say she was single, because she was. She hadn't started dating Tony yet in 2013 when she first started on Outlander. BUT Outlander DID help her connect with Tony, since she moved to the UK and Tony was renting a room to one of her friends. ALL info is directly from my previous one degree of separation source.

Hi Anon, since Cait and Tony already left Stratford, I guess it's okay to share the name of the hotel where they stayed. It was Hotel Indigo. That's where my source for the Sam, Steph, Cait, Tony pub pics said she saw Sam and Steph say goodbye to Cait and Tony after their Dirty Duck Pub outing. And that's where THIS other source breakfast pic was taken of Cait and Tony. 👇 Hotel Indigo.

I answered her and gave her ways to send me the pic, including emailing it to me, which she eventually did. More importantly, NOTICE that the source CONFIRMED that Cait and Tony DID indeed go see Sam perform in Macbeth! And we already knew Steph was there! For those asking why didn't Cait post that she went to see Sam? I dont know, maybe she didn't want to make a big deal about it and/or she didn't want idiot shippers making a big deal about it. Who cares--THIS is CONFIRMATION that Cait and Tony DID see the play. We already knew they'd been in Stratford based on the exclusive source pics I posted of Cait, Tony, Sam, and Steph hanging out together at the Dirty Duck Pub late the night of November 26, 2025. It stood to reason that they all hung out there after the performance and the events after. And that's exactly what happened, now source confirmed.

Interesting to me that she said Steph is taller than Cait since they're both supposed to be 5'10. But, maybe Cait is shrinking and Steph was wearing a bit of a heel. 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, the source identified herself by name in the email, asked me to keep her anon, which, of course I will, and today gave me permission to post the pic of Cait and Tony having breakfast at the hotel in Stratford Upon Avon on the morning of November 27, 2025, the day after watching Sam in Macbeth and then going to the pub to hang out with Sam and Steph.

And before the naysayers gnash "Cait looks miserable." "Tony's not even looking at her." Um, this is a split second in time. Do you look all chipper in the morning after a night of drinking in the pub? I sure as he'll don't. And, Cait and Tony have been together going on 12 years next year; a couple isn't all over each other after that many years together. That doesn't mean they don't love each other. Focus on what's important: this is MORE PROOF that Cait and Tony were indeed in Stratford to see Sam in Macbeth. And that obviously they're a married couple.

For the delulus saying it's weird that the two couples are hanging out together now and so publicly. Um, why is that weird? I hate to break it to you, but Cait and Tony have hung out with Sam and with Sam and a date other times, just not every time do we get lucky enough to get a fan pic. Again, keeping details of their relationships private and hiding their relationships are two very different things. They knew the pub is public; it's literally in the name-public house, and they were obviously fine being out in public. Like normal couples. They're NOT hiding. Obviously. And they don't have to. Again, the fandom does not dictate how Sam and Cait and their significant others live their lives. So, some of you better learn to deal with it. Tony's not going anywhere since he is Cait's HUSBAND and the father of her child. And Steph is Sam's GIRLFRIEND. All of this is GOOD. Two happy couples. Quit being such bitter assholes and be HAPPY for happy people. It really isn't that hard to do. It might make you happier too to accept REALITY.
