Some Oz sketches
I understand that time changes how we read and react to certain things. That something could be read as platonic.
But Dorothy and ozma kissed. Several times. Dorothy described ozma as the most beautiful woman in oz. (She writes letters to Baum and that's the lore of the books being written) Dorothy is Ozma's beloved companion as an official position.
The tin man and the scarecrow ran off into the sunset together. They refer to each other as 'my dear' they did a side quest to find out what happened to the girl the tin man was courting.
These books, most of them, are public domain but they are still fairly modern in terms of literature. Words used in the books tend to mean how we mean them now. With one notable exception but it's debatable on which definition the author is using.
My point is that the books are gay. Very gay.
