Impromptu get together with friends - 2007 @tahbilkwinery Cabernet Sauvignon Nagambie Lakes Central Victoria Australia and the 2013 @vinos_morande Edicion Limitada El Padre Cabernet Franc Maipo Valley Chile. Two beautiful examples in prime drinking windows. The Tahbilk with 12 years behind it was sublime with aromatics of violets and cassis with velvety tannins over a ripe finish. The Morande Cab Franc was epic as well with red currant and hard raspberry candy with loads of dill, mesquite, dried tobacco and leather. I likened the sum to be of faint all dressed chips. Good acidity here and a clean finish with years left. This wine was brought back from Chile directly and does not have an agency in Alberta at least. Pretty special wines with good friends. #chile #australia #cabernetfranc #cabernetsauvignon #tahbilk #morande (at Calgary, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv67KY-BSli/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=eymwqvx044fv
2003 Tahbilk Eric Stevens Purbrick Cabernet Sauvignon
A perfect expression of old vine Victorian Cabernet. Blackcurrant, cedar, pine. Lovely powdery tannin and outstanding length. A saline character synonymous with drought years sits in the background but is not a negative. It merely adds character. A treasure of a wine

Tahbilk Eric Stevens Purbrick Shiraz, Nagambie Lakes 2008 $69.50
With the benefit of bottle-age over most current-release reds, this is superbly mellow and drinking beautifully, with its deep brickred colour and complex, mellow, leathery earthy developed-fruit bouquet. There are hints of spices including star anise, too. It’s slightly forward: a great drink and a worthy style. Now to 2033. 14.5 per cent alcohol. 95/100 (Huon's Wine 360)
Happy birthday, 'Chateau' Tahbilk - 150 years old this year. It's quite something in this young country 150 years is a long time in a land that's only seen white men making wine for around 220 years. It's been known as Chateau Tahbilk most of that time, but Ta...
