âOh, Remus, thank god youâre back. The laundry is a disaster, I donât, I donâtâŚâ Jenny gasped as she began to hyperventilate. Remus put a hand on her back and led her to a chair.Â
âHere, sit here, Iâll get you a glass of water.â He hurried into the break room and came back with some water for her. âDonât worry, Iâll get it sorted,â Once he was certain she wouldnât pass out, he went to see what exactly was wrong with the laundry room.Â
He paled when he saw it. There were piles of washing all over the place. Blues mixed in with whites. Towels with tablecloths. Heâd need to implement a new tactic to deal with the absolute chaos that some unknown troll had left.Â
It took him over two hours to get things into a semblance of order. His first loads of washing were nearly done, and his dryers were clean and waiting. By lunchtime, you wouldnât have known anything had been out of place that morning. Jenny was so grateful that she treated him to lunch, and he got the best burger heâd ever had. He made a note of the place they went so he could take Sirius there.Â
âSo, Remus, howâs life? Did you sort out what was going on?â Jenny asked as she sipped her drink. Remus nearly choked on the bite of burger he was in the process of swallowing.Â
âErm, what?â Heâd told Jenny he had the flu.Â
âCome on, Remus, youâve never taken a sick day, ever, and youâre guzzling that burger down like you want to make love to it, there is no way you just had flu. You donât have to tell me the details, but you so werenât sick.â Remus put his burger down and nervously took a sip of his coke. âRemus, donât worry. Iâm not going to dob you in. I just wanted to make sure you were alright and offer to listen if you wanted to talk about it,â Jenny reassured him. He felt some of the colour come back to his face. For a second there, heâd been sure he was about to be fired.Â
âErm, yeah, sorry about that. I had a bit of a shock and needed a few days. I wasnât sure Iâd get the time off if I didnât say I was sick. Sorry,âÂ
âIs everything sorted now?â Jenny asked, popping a chip into her mouth. He nodded. âGood, then everything is good. I canât lose you, Remus. You saw what Graham did in a day. Yeah, that was just from yesterday, and the others werenât much better. I honestly donât know how Iâd cope without you,âÂ
Feeling much better after his chat with Jenny, Remus returned to his laundry room only to find a rather unexpected surprise waiting for him.Â
