Internal Tourism: A Peak full of Pines
What I love about going to Maricao is that on every corner there is a dirt road leading somewhere, and if you are overcome with curiosity like me, you get an itch to explore every single one of those roads to simply see where it leads. I admit I had to restrain myself from stopping every time I saw an adjacent road , I wanted to see Tabonuco before the day was done; we didn’t had the time to explore everything. On our way something did stand out enough to propel us out of the car and merit on its beauty. A concentration of pine trees in the peak of the mountain and a glimpse of the road that possibly lead up there, we indulged.
The road increasingly grew narrower as we moved up, branches and plants increasingly hindered our way, some with spike that made you wonder their purpose, besides echoing screams of curses to the air. Suddenly the scenery completely changed and we stood taken aback at the pines that stretch before us.
There was no noise, beside our steps and the occasional surge of wind overhead us, rattling the entire forest into a symphony of singing leafs, resembling waves on the beach, but smoother. Our gaze driven by the soothing sound, shoot upward to a dozen silhouettes softly swaying back and forth, as if dancing to the composure name The Wind, playing the kind of song that merely complemented the quiet tranquility that nestles a peace inside of you.
