Episode 1383: Tabina the Indispensible
Translator Notes:
I donât speak a word of Arabic, but I did my best to do enough research to have at least somewhat of an idea regarding whatâs being sung in the second and third panel. Â The Japanese version in the second panel contains the katakana for Saada Taaro, Saada Taaro, while the third panel reads Taaro Masiiru, Taaro Masiiru. Â Taaro is the Japanese name for Tahar Island, but I believe it may also be a transliteration of the Arabic word tahir, which means âperfectâ. Â My best guesses for the other words are that saada is meant to be the Arabic word saâada, or âhappinessâ, and that masiiru is meant to be masir, or âdestinyâ. Â Put together, this would make the two phrases translate as âperfect happinessâ and âa perfect destinyâ.
...Again, though, I donât speak a word of Arabic, so this is all guesswork on my part. Â Similar to the comic involving Shivaâs battle theme, though, it seemed like itâd be better to do my best to come up with the actual intended text in the intended language, rather than just transcribing a blind transliteration.

Episode 1380: My Beloved Tabina
Translator Notes:
Tabinaâs name is a bit of an oddity, comparing the Japanese and the English versions of her name.  I imagine that part of the localizersâ decision to put a B in her name is that the V sound does not exist in Arabic, and that âTabinaâ is indeed an Arabic name - however, her name in Japanese is specifically ăżă´ăŁăźă, not ăżăăźă, which would suggest that the Japanese authors intended her name to be âTavinaâ.  Japanese doesnât have the V sound either, so historically, the B sound has been used as an approximation thereto - e.g., the Japanese word for âeventâ is ibento - but in modern days, the character ă´ (pronounced bu, same as ă) has begun to be used as a way to differentiate between words intended to have a V versus words intended to have a B.
Due to the above, Japanese people often can confuse B and V sounds (similar to the more well-known difficulty between L and R sounds), so itâs possible that the Japanese authors simply incorrectly thought that âTavinaâ was how to spell the Arabic name, and the English localizers corrected that mistake during their translation. Â I can only speculate on this matter, though.
