Alright ladies and gentlemen. I don’t have many facts and this is mostly speculation, but I made a small connection while rewatching 6x02. During the scene in which Echo and Emori are chained up in a room together, and Bellamy is trying to get Echo to open the door, Echo begins to hear voices leaving her unable to open the door for Bellamy. We too, as the audience, begin to hear the voices she does. The two main ‘voices’ we hear are of a man and woman. “Slit her throat” being the man’s, and “bring me her head” the woman’s. Now, we know that Jason has stated in previous interviews that we will get to know more about Echo’s backstory and, seeing the theme of this season is “face your demons”, the possible guilt she feels for the things she had done as an Azgeda spy. Now, jumping back to season two, we remeber the important scene between Lexa and Clarke where the famous “Love is weakness” quote was born. Lexa tells of her previous lover, Costia, and how she was decapitated at the hands of the azgeda, her head left at Lexa’s feet, turning Lexa into a head rather than a heart. Full on. So, from all of this, I was rewatching the episode and it just kinda clicked. There isn’t much proof other than Costia was decapicated by an Azgedian, voices haunting Echo of telling her to “bring me her head”, and “slit her throat”, and the fact that Echo was previously a part of Azgeda. Could these voices/quotes be from Ronan and the Queen is Azgeda commanding Exho to go through with the plan/murder? Also, really can’t think of a reason why this would be important to the plot, other than it would make Madi dislike Echo. Plus if Lexa ever knew it was Echo that was the one who murdered Costia, Madi would already know this information because of the Flame. Anyways, just some thoughts! If anyone else has thought of something similar, wants to help the theory, or add on feel free:)
