anyway this is also an anne of green gables fic! (spoiler: they were all aogg fics) (i i have a single personality trait) syrup, idk how familiar you are with aogg -- i know you've read the blue castle, so sorry if this is unnecessary 😅 the general plot of the fic is a character who is killed in World War I in canon, walter, surviving the war via being turned into a vampire. he meets his love interest, una, a few years later and pining + sexy(?) neck-biting ensues. i've mentioned this fic before just briefly but yeah, have been revisiting it! i'd like it to be a thematic halloween fic one day :D

the idea was admittedly inspired by BG3! basically i was playing and was like "hmm. astarion. vampires. you know who would make a good vampire?" and there you go. the document title comes from how astarion says ~*~the danse macabre~*~ when it's his turn in combat haha.

i do not usually go in much for supernatural AUs but i was feeling like if vampirism fit any aogg character, it would be walter. he's already v. dramatic and beautiful and haunted by death, so i felt like that was a Vibe to play around with there. i thought it would be interesting, too, to maybe get a leetle darker with him and una? in canon, they're both very kind, reserved, gentle people and i usually write (and like to read) their romance as something soft and healing for both of them. buuut i thought there might be something else there; una builds a lot of her life around taking care of other people and is canonically easy to impose on because she's so giving; i think there's potential for her love for walter/his memory to lead her into wanting to give walter things that aren't healthy for her to give (like her blood or, y'know, her humanity). later in the series, it's also suggested una doesn't have much to live for without the hope of walter returning her feelings, so maybe interesting to explore her having a bit of a death wish, too. also thought it would be interesting for walter, having not healed from the trauma of the war, to lean into his dramatic, brooding side as a vampire but, idk, haven't gotten that far into characterizing him lol.

Fenris x Anders (SFW, pre-relationship, reluctant friendship/found family), 396 words.

“Wait, this is for shits and giggles, right? Nobody is actually going to try to fulfill someone else’s resolutions,” Varric protests, prompting Hawke to burst into laughter. “I knew this was you, you bastard,” the dwarf chuckles, throwing the piece of parchment which reads 'Give up gambling' onto the table between them all.

Fenris isn’t entirely sure what it is he expected from this lovable and fucked up group of misfits Hawke has somehow found and claimed as theirs, but clearly he should have expected less. It’s all been downhill from the moment that Merrill pulled what was obviously Isabela’s resolution for the new year to ‘write more friend-fiction’ from the hat.

Still, Fenris won’t be the one to ruin the game. Besides, the elf is secretly rather curious what everyone else put in, and curious to see whether he can guess who put what in. He draws one of the remaining papers from the hat and unfurls it, staring at the slanted scrawl on the page with a frown.

"You need some help," Hawke offers softly from beside him.

"No," Fenris replies shaking his head. "I can read it." He simply doesn't understand it. It has to be a joke. Like the others have been. No one in the group has bothered to put down any serious resolutions. This is no different. It's the only thing that makes sense.

"Well, go on then, Broody," Varric says, "What did you get?"

"Kiss Fenris," Fenris reads, brow furrowing.

"Oh, no, but that doesn't make any sense," Merrill hiccups, a pouty look on her face. "Anders was supposed to draw that one."

"What," Anders splutters, nearly knocking over his flagon as he abruptly sits up from where he's been slouched in his seat as Fenris's wide green eyes dart across the table to him. The mage looks... surprised, eyes at least as wide as the elf's when they meet, though, Fenris thinks, Anders does not look nearly as repulsed by the idea as he might have expected if the sudden flush of pink in the healer's cheeks and ears are anything to go on.

17. god i am so bad at puns but it would have to be a literary pun of some kind. the book jar. the noon library. for whom the book tolls (for whom the bell tomes?)

LOL so many things. but okay, i would very much love to change how marketing books works. incidentally as a result booktok would be obliterated from existence. but i hate hate hate the tropification of mainstream books, i hate what it's done to writing, and i hate that all the most buzzy books have to fit a very succinct, snappy model of Book to find an audience. this has taken genre conventions and creativity to a really bad, paint-by-numbers place and it's purely about what sells and lazy ass marketing.

47. so i'm a multi-format reader, going between digital and print fairly evenly with a slight preference for digital. but when digital books aren't hitting much, i make sure i get a physical book in my hands and that usually does the trick!

oh and i also ask my friends for recommendations. most of my reading slumps are when i try out a book i don't know much about but it turns out to be trash.

Nanna picked the test of strength: a lot of big, sweaty, hairy men lifting progressively larger bags of flour. No way Sera would be able to finish it, but she would get to watch Nanna heft things over her head, so it was worth it.

“This is so unfair,” Sera gripes, anyway. “You’re bigger and stronger than me.”

Nanna raises a brow, looking up at her. Bigger?

“Not taller.” Sera flexes as if her arms have doubled in size, and growls out, “bigger.”

They both dissolve into laughter. When she can, Nanna easily hoists the heaviest bag.

How about an entire fic? Love Finds a Suez, a number combining the ‘Ever Given getting stuck in the Suez Canal’ incident, Peter/Elias, and some obscure knowledge. I do feel that it was a once-in-a-lifetime comedy crossover opportunity.

And because I’ll never stop shouting about it, Oops! I Did it Again for the flawless—nay, absolutely seamless—incorporation of Britney lyrics to Alexander’s stupid love (?) life, because sometimes I live my life like I think I deserve a Netflix comedy special.

🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

One that’s not out yet which I started like four years ago, yes four, because I tend to write 10 words, get distracted, then life happens, then I come back 6 months later and write another 50, rinse and repeat, because such is the life of an immortal. And also one that’s not out yet that I started like 3 months ago. And one—yeah.

I know that objectively it’s probably the, ahem, ghoul-ish Daniel affair but really, I’m going to say it’s my contribution to Don Giovanni fandom because it was honestly a wild ride to write. I’m still not sure where it came from. Opera opus, darlings.
