El 17 de noviembre de 1998, la empresa SyQuest Technology (fundada en 1982 y dedicada a la manufactura de discos duros para las PC) anuncia que se declara en bancarrota. Sus dispositivos más conocidos eran los discos removibles que, cuando aparecieron los discos ZIP, su cuota de mercado se redujo considerablemente. Fue vendida en parte a Iomega, su competidor directo en 1999, pero continúo brindando soporte técnico hasta 2003 #retrocomputingmx #syquest

It is fascinating that the drive works flawlessly even with a lot of dust inside (unlike with normal hard drives, the reading head is not in a clean air environment here). This particular drive was used to transfer large files between computers in a DTP company. It is fast and reliable. On the other side its price/capacity ratio was not good in comparison with normal hard drives so it was not widely used.
