house of the dragon: season 3, episode 7 — the penultimate peril.
helaena’s dreams: a gray mare. dragonfyre with helaena on her back, burning a bunch of peasants. both her children alive again at a remote cottage, the gray horse still in the background, but the skies darken, the sun sets, and snow falls. maybe ash. is winter coming? she gives birth and the baby is taken away.
aemond’s wig looked so fucking ugly in the beginning of this episode it’s insane. and what are they doing to alicent’s wig that makes her look like one of the elves from the claymation rudolph the red-nosed reindeer?
somehow i didn’t see the alys-alicent fakeout coming. i did think “wow, two kisses within less than a minute of seeing each other? she’s really laying it on thick” and of course we all saw how that went.
poor addam thinks he’s in the running for baela’s heart, but he’s too late. it makes more sense for her to be with an older brother anyway, especially if they’re going to be legitimized. the look on his face did make me sad though. i have been wondering why they gave baela moments with both brothers.
my new headcanon is evil autistic ormund. you know, one of those boys that never got parented properly. no coping skills no accommodations just sensory aversions and pure rage. that glare he gave to daeron for asking a simple question was something fierce.
very few daeron crumbs this episode. i’m disappointed. i love that he told gwayne “i’m sorry about your friend” though, what a sweetie pie. but also i think his little stint as “king” is so stupid and short-sighted. at least it wasn’t his idea, even if he’ll probably have to die for it.
martyr manderly has noticed his status as court scapegoat, poor fella. rhaenyra has zero fucks to give any of them “i don’t know what you want me to do about it” and “JUST TAKE IT” like okay queen.
mysaria sows the seeds of doubt :) not that daemon makes it very hard. it was interesting to see sylvi return to chew her ass out for being a class traitor. “within these halls a whore is still a whore” and then she fucks rhaenyra #whatdatmean
rhaenyra questions her father. she said he wasn’t a dreamer, that his life was a dream. she’s tried to follow in his footsteps and where has it gotten her? nowhere! viserys i wasn’t much of a king, anyway. he inherited a largely peaceful kingdom from jaehaerys and it was driven to hell by the time he died. rhaenyra trying to be her dad was the stupidest plan ever. they are not the same and never were.
once again, alys is named a “maester of sorts,” and now a lady. aemond was enjoying his new kingdom seat at harrenhal. first he had alys, his savior, his healer, his guide, and now his mommy. he held hands with alys and then turned expectantly to grab alicent’s as well. i’m sure he would’ve loved a pseudo-sisterwife arrangement immensely. i’m shocked he didn’t pay more heed to alys’s warnings, though. i guess all targaryen boys do want the same thing.
daemon as a remorseful father is the most likable he’s ever been.
i’m glad baela still loves rhaena as well.
aegon ii: his most interesting development is sunfyre’s return. her face/body is also half-burned, am i right? that shot of him cackling, arms spread wide, with her in the background was one of my favorite in the entire episode. doesn’t it also mirror his coronation in season 1? i do wonder where larys ran off to, though.

Finally resurrected from the dead! (They already created in 2018 and only existed in closed servers, but were in desperate need of a makeover first)
They are the next gen kids that I envision for Pac and Cyli, and I had so much fun coming up with their new designs! I might show and compare how their old (2018) designs looked like at a later date. Back then I had a different approach to designing fankids. With these new ones, I decided to really lean into the genetics side of things and make Pac and Cyli's three children actually look like their children, each with a good blend of both parents while still being unique enough to be their own individuals. I MIGHT return and do some tweaks to their designs (looking at Sylvi), but overall I'm very happy with how these three came out!
Now for the proper introductions and bios:
Zachary
Named after his grandfather, Zac is the firstborn and only son of Pac and Cyli. He is a Yellow One like his dad, but takes after his mom in being smart and witty - definitely to the point of being a smartass, as his sisters would tell you. His main hobby is playing pac-pong, soccer, and annoying his sisters, but he also enjoys reading a good book and going on trips with his family. He is a bit of a history nerd, a trait that has been cultivated by both Pac and Cyli since Zac was young, by reading lots of history books and learning of past wars and battles through his parents' eyes. While Zac does enjoy poking fun at his sisters, he actually sees them as his best friends and would give his life to protect them. While not a full-blooded Yellow One like his dad, Zac is still capable of using the same mainline power berries that Pac can use (Fire, Ice, Chameleon, Titanium, etc), but not for long periods of time or to the fullest extend that full-blood Yellow Ones can. Zac's appetite also rivals his father's, a Yellow One trait that comes in strong. He goes by Zac most of the time, but sometimes Cyli calls him Zaccy as a fond nickname, paying homage to when Pac was called Paccy as a child.
Appearance: Inherited Pac's yellow skin, eyebrows, nose, and smile, while he got Cyli's pink eyes and black hair, with the unique addition of Cyli's highlights gene, just in yellow.
Personality in a nutshell: A goofball and a walking encyclopedia in one package. Witty and adventurous, with a bit of a competitive streak.
Ovaline
Ovaline is Pac and Cyli's eldest daughter, who goes by Ova. Unlike her father and brother, and very atypical of Yellow Ones in general, Ova has never really had a big appetite (at least not as big as Pac or Zac's). Since Ova is also only half-Yellow, her Yellow One abilities are halved, where she can use some of the mainline power berries but has been unable to use the Titanium and Ice berries - they simply do not work, or they give her an entirely different set of powers. This does not deter her, and since the power berries have not really been needed since the end of the ghost wars, Ova is happy to live without those powers and is confident in her own skin. She loves animals and dreams of becoming a vet one day. She often buds heads with Zac and gets into fights with him, but they always have each other's backs. Ova is a lot like her mother, with a tomboyish flair and a clever mind, and she's even managed to beat Cyli in a few rounds of chess. Ova also looks up to her great-aunt, Spheria, and gets much of her spunk and sass from her. Despite this, Ova is a total daddy's girl. One perfectly sweet smile is enough to wrap Pac completely around her finger.
Appearance: Inherited Pac's yellow skin and the gene for red hair (passed down from her grandmother, Sunny), and inherited several features from Cyil: pink eyes, pink highlights in her hair, and the same facial features as Cyli.
Personality in a nutshell: Stubborn and sassy, but fiercely loyal and valiant. She is a team player through and through.
Sylvanial
Nicknamed Sylvi, she is the youngest sister and the only one out of her siblings who is pink - in fact, she is the spitting image of her mother, with the sweetest blue eyes. Soft-spoken and introverted, Sylvi is often shy around new people, but turns into a warm and optimistic force once you spend time with her. She's a bit of a goody-two-shoes, not because she's a stickler for the rules, but because she simply wants to do good by people and doesn't want to get into trouble (the latter of which gets tested when her brother and sister try roping their innocent little sister into their mischievous schemes.) She often takes the role of peacekeeper between her brother and sister when their fighting turns serious (but don't be fooled; she's been pulled into their shenanigans on more than one occasion, either tricked against her will or when she genuinely found the fun in it). Her favourite thing in the world is to cook and bake alongside her mother in the kitchen, made even better when the rest of the family joins in. While Sylvi looks so much like Cyli, she is a lot like Pac when it comes to her character: kind-hearted, gentle, optimistic, always sees the good in people, and has a child-like wonder for the world around her. Plus, she is the biggest cuddle bug her family has ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Appearance: Inherited Cyli's pink skin, black hair, hair-highlights gene, and her smile, while inheriting Pac's blue eyes. While she does have highlights in her hair, her highlights have a very faint, peach-yellow gradient rather than full pink, and it's the only visible drop of yellow that she got from Pac. Both her eyebrows and nose are triangular but rounded, a blend of Pac and Cyli's noses and eyebrows.
Personality in a nutshell: Though she may be shy and quiet, she is incredibly humble, affectionate, and has an aptitude for cooking. She's a cinnamon roll with a big heart and a gentle spirit.
Bonus Facts:
Zac, Ova, and Sylvi are tightly bonded, despite the frequent sibling rivalries. While they do have very close friends outside of family, they always choose each other as being their own best friends.
As they grew up, Pac and Cyli gave their children a set of endearing pet names that matched their growing personalities. Zachary's pet name was Dragonfly, for his boundless energy and adventurous spirit. Ovaline was called Butterfly, for her love of animals and her graceful wit. Sylvanial was called Firefly, for her tender affection despite her shyness, blooming like a firefly's gentle light in the dark.
Ova brings in rescued animals all the time. It's become a problem to the point where even nature-loving-Cyli couldn't keep up with the demand. Pac and Cyli have often needed to have talks with Ova to take the animals to the shelter rather than their house. While Ova has done her best to honour this, it still doesn't stop her from bringing home injured birds or the odd baby hedgehog to nurse them back to health before releasing them.
Pac and Cyli wanted their children to be close in age to form a close bond. They waited until Zac was 1 year old before they had Ova, then took a one-year break to handle two babies, and then had Sylvi when Zac was 3 and Ova was 2.
Zac and Ova have had a sibling rivalry since they were toddlers. They were just more cute about it when they were small. As young children, they'd sometimes fight over toys or disagreements and get into wrestling-matches, but only for about 5-minutes before they flop on the carpet together, make a truce, and all is well and they love each other again. As they grew up, their rivalry sometimes lasted longer and evolved into prank wars and sibling competitions, with less immediate-truces or forgiveness afterwards, but while their childhood cuddles melted away, their bond grew stronger in the form of always having each other's backs and forming a wickedly sneaky and powerful duo once they team up.
In their early-teens, Zac once broke another boy's jaw... in retaliation for harassing Sylvi. (In Zac's defense, the other boy did pick on her and pulled at her hair.) This was the first time Zac had become aware of his own strength, and had to learn how to use it responsibly to avoid excessive force and violence (but he makes no promises on holding back when it comes to protecting his sisters.)
Sylvi got her love for cooking from both her grandmothers - but thankfully inherited Sunny's skill and not Starchild's.
Ova has a birth mark on her left hand: half of her thumb has pink skin instead of yellow, a clash of the pink and yellow colours at conception. It’s been fondly nicknamed her lucky thumb. (Once, during a mystery murder game, Zac had to prove innocence and merely said, "I swear on Ova's lucky thumb that I am NOT the accused!" Ova's answer: "STOP SWEARING ON MY THUMB YOU FREAK.")
All three children are half Yellow, half Pink (in blood). This means that Pac's Yellow One powers are not passed down in full, but rather have been passed down in smaller degrees: Zac inherited the most (big appetite, can use mainline power berries but for a limited time), Ova inherited a bit less (no big appetite, can only use a select few mainline berries), and Sylvi inherited the least (no big appetite, can not safely use any mainline berries). Despite not having full Yellow One powers, none of the children feel lesser or inadequate, thanks to their parents' dedicated love and upbringing, and since the ghost wars were long finished by the time they were born, it became practically unnecessary to ever use any power berries or Yellow One powers.
Despite being half-Yellow and half-Pink, all three of their colours came out strongly in their pigments, rather than becoming a blend of their parents' colours (which would've given them a range of peach-coloured skins). In my headcanon, this is due to a unique nature in Pacworlder colour genetics: usually, the offspring's colours come out as a blend of their parents' colours (Red + Yellow = Orange), and sometimes this still happens even among stronger bloodlines, but depending on how pure a bloodline is over several generations, one parent's pigment may be strong enough to completely overwrite the other parents' colour, or at least offset the blending in such a way that the offspring gets a 50/50 chance of being the same colour as either one of the parents. In this case, Pac comes from a very long line of Yellow Ones, whereas Cyli comes from a long line of Pinks that sometimes mixed. Because of this, Pac's genes were strong enough to give two of his children full, solid yellow pigments in their skin, the only caveat being that their Yellow One powers are halved. In Sylvi's case, she had a 50/50 chance of being the same colour as either parent, and thus came out as pink. (Zac sometimes jokes that that was when their dad had ran out of ink.) Other than her blue eyes, the only other sign that Sylvi has a drop of her father's Yellow genes in her, is the very faint yellow gradient in the highlights of her hair, blending in with a pink shade. I'll make a more dedicated post about Pacworlder genetics in the future, as I've got a lot of ideas for it while designing these kiddos!
Sylvi's name was inspired by a very good fantasy book I was reading as a teen, where the story had a princess with the name Sylviianel in it. I wanted something soft yet playful for Pac and Cyli's pink daughter, but couldn't come up with anything fitting. Eventually, I came up with Sylvanial, derived from princess Sylviianel from the book, which enabled her nickname to be Sylvi, and it fit perfectly into place for how I imagined Sylvi to be. This was in 2018 though, and while I was recently redesigning the kids, I was tempted to change her name to something that fits more into the Pacworld universe - but alas, I cannot come up with anything better or more suitable than Sylvanial. I might come back and change her name if I DO get a better name in the future, but she's also been 'Sylvi' for so long that changing it feels wrong. I'll just self-impose my inspirations onto Cyli and make a headcanon that Cyli named her youngest daughter after her favourite fairy tale character or something lol.
Sylvi, dressed in a pretty silk gown of good quality and flashy, gold jewlery and telling Rhaenyra she is not wealthy was just another level of comdey. Her outift provided a stark contrast to other commoners' costumes.
Were I a humble citizen of KL, in addition starving, I would be bitter a bawd (her profession should be considered taboo in this quasi Medieval universe) is so plump and well-dressed. But folk of King's Landing accepted them as their leader.
I can't help but rememeber a scene from "Gone with the Wind", in which Scarlett and Mammy arrive at Atlanta for the first time since the war has ended. The first person they notice when they leave the train station is this Belle prostitute. They notice she looks well-nourished, wears a nice, if not luxurious, clothes and apparently owns a posh carriage. Mammy's bitter reaction was like I wonder why God lets women like this one live in the lap od luxury while decent people are starving. Westerosi smallfolks are apparently pro sex work and pimps are their heroes.
OC Sylvi is just another example of C&H forcing modern progressive framing into a fictional world where it does not fit.
In ASOIAF, King’s Landing is not some enlightened modern city where starving smallfolk would calmly rally behind a well-dressed brothel owner dripping in nice fabric and jewelry while they can barely feed themselves. And I agree, that kind of thing should create resentment, suspicion, and class bitterness immediately.
But the show wants her to be treated like some natural people’s leader because it fits their modern message, not because it makes sense inside Westeros. It is another idiotic writing choice from people who keep forgetting the world they are supposed to be adapting.
