âThe Stars Are In Your Future, Rebel Boy...âÂ
I started this in celebration of the Cassian Andor Series being announced! I cannot wait for it. I wanted to do a little foreshadowing (literally) and came up with this design. Of course had to get a little Rebelcaptain in there, lol. This is my attempt at a younger Cassian. Hope it came out okay.Â
SWR1,

The Will of the Force (3/7?)
[Part 1] Â [Part 2]
[Read on AO3]
Qui-Gon reappeared while they were watching Princess Leia and her rescuers escape from the Death Starâs garbage disposal.
âWhat happened?â Jyn asked.
âMy apologies,â Qui-Gon said, sounding a little less composed than usual. His eyes were tight as if things still werenât right âEven when I was alive, I was particularly sensitive to the Living Force â the aspect that connects every living being to every other. Now⌠as an undead aspect of the Living Force, I am more sensitive than ever.â
âYou fainted,â Cassian summarised bluntly, reading between the lines. âThe shock of two billion simultaneous deaths.â
âYes. Oh, theyâve dressed as Stormtroopers? You would think that the Empire would be wise to that by now.â
âWhat?â
Qui-Gon smiled, although it didnât quite ease the tension around his eyes. âThe amount of times that young Kanan and Rex did it, you would have thought that the Empire would have learned.â
âThey caught on pretty quick,â Cassian said, inexplicably defending the Empire. âBut mostly because Solo screwed up.
âHold on: Kanan? You mean Kanan Syndulla?â
That particular smile did reach Qui-Gonâs eyes. âHe chose her name? I must have missed that. I imagine that Rex was horrified, given how much value he puts in a name. Have you been keeping track of what my impetuous padawan is up to?â
âHe went to shut off the tractor beam so theyâd be able to escape,â Jyn said. âIâm pretty sure heâs okay â his light is over there.â
Cassian looked startled by that statement, but Qui-Gon nodded his agreement. âI will check on him. He does have an alarming tendency to get into trouble when he is unsupervised.â
Qui-Gon disappeared again, but at least they knew where he was going. Jyn followed him across a few decks to where Obi-Wan Kenobi was on his own mission.
Cassian was watching her â she could sense it.
âWhat?â
âYou can see them, canât you? The Jedi?â
âYou canât?â
Cassian shrugged. âThey donât look any different to me. But Luke and Master Kenobi, they do to you, donât they?â
âAnd the princess,â Jyn said.
âThe princess?â Cassian repeated. âSheâs not⌠I mean, she canât be.â
Jyn shrugged. âMaybe sheâs not. Iâm not an expert. But she looks all bright and shiny, like Luke does.â
Before they could get into more of a debate as to whether the princess was or was not a Jedi, a shout grabbed their attention.
âObi-Wan Kenobi, donât you dareâŚ!â
Jyn grabbed Cassianâs hand and pulled him over (possibly bending space as she did so) to where Qui-Gon was standing in front of Obi-Wan, looking every inch the forbidding father. It was a shame that Obi-Wan couldnât see him really, because he was quite impressive.
ââŚalready knows Iâm here,â Obi-Wan was saying blandly. âI am simply distracting him from the others.â
âYou are sacrificing yourself,â Qui-Gon corrected hotly. âItâs one thing, what happened to me, but to actually suicide by Sith Lord is complete lunacy. Obi-Wan, you have a padawan.â
âYou had two,â Obi-Wan countered. âLook how we turned out.â
âThat is precisely my point!â Qui-Gon shouted, looking like he wanted to throttle Obi-Wan. âYouâre a psychological wreck, and Anakin is Fallen. Donât leave Luke like this; he needs you.â
âI have no intention of leaving him,â Obi-Wan said. âYou have taught me enough that even if I should die, I can continue to watch over him and guide him, and Lord Vader will have no way of stopping me.
âHowever, if I fail to distract Vader, he will probably find the children and the droids. They must escape â R2 is far too important.â
âThe plans, yes, I know. I have been paying attention. But you still donât have to distract him like this.â
Obi-Wanâs lips quirked into a little smile. âWhere would you rather his attention was, Master? On me, or on the children? At least I am trained and, although the odds are not good, I will do my best to not die.â
He took a few steps forwards, towards what Jyn knew Qui-Gon was absolutely certain was to be his doom.
âAnd,â he added, turning back with a small smile, âif I do, then I will be with you once more.â
