also thinking about the tragedy that is the way anakin, buried under years of vader, is still just a child seeking approval and respect.
by the time we reach anh, vader hasnāt (visibly) thought about obi wan in years. why, when he was so utterly obsessed just nine years prior?
because all anakin has ever wanted was to be respected, his actions and especially his character approved of. and the second the emperor questions his ability, his worth, due to his obsession with obi wan, anakin simply drops it. just like that. because palpatine is threatening to withdraw his respect and approval and vader, anakin, will do anything to keep it.
palpatine saw anakinās weak spot, the one thing he wasnāt getting enough of from the jedi, and he exploited it from day one. and anakin never stood a chance. because at the end of the day, heās still just a 9 year old boy wanting to be treated like someone with value and worth.
love that star wars twitter is losing its mind at the possibility of Ahsoka being stronger then Luke with the simple statement ofĀ āAnd technically, she's had vastly more training then he ever has. Sheās his senior, which is difficult for people to rememberĀ ācause of when these characters were created. So a lot of consideration given to every detail.ā

āIt was such a great way to start a film and it caught the audience off-guard. Everybody thought, Oh, hereās a nice starfield and hereās a nice little planet. Whatās going to happen? Is there going to be a nice little ship that comes in slowly. People were expecting a 2001 shot and then... itās like the Indians attacking a stagecoach in space. That was a good example of forcing people to look at something: this gigantic thing coming overhead with very strong perspective lines.
