Barry Bluejeans was part of a special research team at Umbrella Corporation-- seven people total, including his wife, Lup and her brother, Taako. They were in charge of testing the limits of what bioweapons could be made-- their work was purely in the name of science, and well controlled. No one was supposed to get hurt.

...but when the virus was seized by the higher-ups, the team blamed themselves for the fallout, and set to work trying to rescue as many survivors as possible during the outbreak.

like this ties in to what i’ve been over and over i my head but never written down

which is why i think yozora is all weird about sora being who he is

“why do you have sora’s name?”

like bc in his heart or whatever, he’s expecting this “sora” person he was told to save, to be a girl?? (sora’s a unisex name???)

so yozora isn’t confused about the NAME necessarily he’s just having a bit of gay panic bc like, wtf. of course this all depends on if he has feelings for nameless star before she disappeared/had her heart stolen.

so basically he’s like feeling there’s someone he has to save, someone he cares about (i don’t want to assume he has romantic feelings for nameless star i’m just taking it for granted based on the verum rex trailer), but bc of his heart being replaced by another’s he’s clearly gotten mixed up. and so SOMEONE goes and tells him to “save sora” and yozora goes and assumes sora is the person he feels he has to save (i’m guessing he’s at least a LITTLE emotionally invested based on the soft ass fucking smile he gives sora in the secret episode???)

what i’m trying to get out is that i’m guessing there are feelings there. i think i wrote about it a little in an old post. but yozoras feelings and expectations for who “sora” is don’t match up with who “sora” ends up being lmao.

Dr. Richter Abend (and Dr. Aster Laker)

Two gifted scientists for Umbrella Corporation, dealing in the creation of bioweapons.

Their job isn't to figure out the applications for these weapons, but to test the limits of what can be created.

They were in charge of project RATATOSK-- a plant-based bioweapon that looks suspiciously like Aster...

If Aster is allowed by the player to die, you get the Bad End-- You have to fight Richter, who has injected himself with a strain of the virus to avenge Aster's death, turning him into a terrifying fiery monster.

If you manage to save Aster, Richter will assist the player, and everyone is able to escape Raccoon together.

The player first meets Baizhu when he offers to sell them healing items-- as well as acting as a field medic, he also sells, herbs, first aid sprays, and med kits.

What is this guy doing in Spain, anyway? How much does he know about what's actually going on?

Turns out he's here for his own purposes-- on top of being a healer, he's done his fair share of research into bioweapons. And he wants to get his hands on one-- specifically one that can help him cure his illness and find immortality.

In his search, he took in a young girl that's, well... actually a bioweapon herself. Even though she's undead, he's promised that he won't let anything happen to her.

(The player is unable to harm Qiqi in any way, and if they try, Baizhu will instantly become aggressive toward them.)

Emil Castagnier | Project RATATOSK

Woke up in a lab in the middle of the raccoon city incident-- passed out cold on the floor.

Found an ID nearby belonging to one ‘Emil Castagnier’... that must be his name, right? (Actually the identity of the dead person nearby, but it’s not like he’s using it anymore, right?)

Actually the experiment of bioweapon testing by Umbrella researchers Laker and Abend, but he doesn’t know that. All he knows is that he needs to get out of here. Now.

Meets up with fellow survivor Marta Lualdi to escape Raccoon.

Surprise! He can control some of the zombies. Wonder why that is?

Can always command the plant-based bioweapons for some reason

Agent Zelos Wilder | STARS Alpha Team/Umbrella Operative

Whose side is this guy on, anyway? Does he even know anymore?

Originally joined STARS with the intention of sabotaging their mission to stop Umbrella, but got pretty attached to his coworkers... (the ending changes depending on what the player says to him).

Double crosses the player time and time again, and will steal government secrets, virus samples, you name it.

...also has a habit of swooping in and saving the player, though, so maybe it all evens out in the end?
