it's a variation on a christian prayer, one i used to pray as a child. i've always loved this song and then just. ugh. the original prayer goes like this (sleeepy translation by yours truly)

Gud, som haver barnen kär, (God who loves His children dearly,) se till mig som liten är. (looks after me, who is small.) Vart jag mig i världen vänder (Wherever I turn in the world) står min lycka i Guds händer. (my luck is in God's hands) Lyckan kommer, lyckan går, (Luck comes, luck goes,) du förbliver, Fader vår. (You remain our Father)

and this song uses part of this but rewrites it but it drives me insane how they do it just arhg

Vart jag mig i världen vänder, (Wherever I turn in the world,) står jag här med tomma händer, (I stand here with empty hands,) längtar efter något som kan rädda mig. (longing for something that can save me.)

and then there's this part! which is what got grace in my head

När vi låtsas på riktigt från hjärtat och drömmen (When we pretend for real, from the heart and our dream) Kan vi vakna med tiden och sansas i sömnen? (Can we wake with the time and get along while asleep?) För vi lever alla med känslan att falla (For we all live with the feeling of falling) Och vid tomhetens botten står vi på toppen (And by the bottom of the emptiness we stand at the top)

and immediately i see him on a space walk, the emptiness, longing

but there's more

Har alltid kunnat lita på min omdömeslöshet (I could always trust my misguided nature) Har alltid kunnat tappa min skalle till marken (Have always been able to lose my head) Har alltid varit säker på att jag kan göra fel (Have always been able to trust that I can do wrong) Det ger mig trygghet i stanken, bedragen av tanken (It gives me safety in the struggle, betrayed by thought)
