Ego death inducing to realize that sometimes, talking with people who share your kinks is the answer
Joined a kink server, had a great time, really feeling at home and empowered to express myself however I please while also having really interesting meta conversations
It doesn't actually solve the base problem in that for as good as the community can be, I can't find companionship there because of my need for physical intimacy. I will still have to find someone outside the community and grovel for their approval. But in the meantime, having this space is still meaningful
I even did some DIY exposure and ritual prevention therapy on the "anyone I try dating will think they'll get true crimed if I tell them" obsession by observing server members discuss the source of that obsession. Unsurprisingly, seeing it framed as "that's awkward and we don't like having this in common with that person but in no way does it define us", rather than in the form of an outsider gawking "isn't that so weird and disturbing", makes it less of a burden to bear
Having it be pointed out that this was the first known person to have something resembling this kink stung but I was able to easily deflect and insist that there's no reason the kink hasn't existed in some form for as long as humanity has, because it's all about something that's always existed and that everyone deals with. That would've been difficult for me to do just one week ago
