The Metroliner offering up to 18 seats, actually a stretch of the corporate Swearingen Merlin to almost twice the original length, came at the right time to succeed as commuter aircraft when such feeder services to hubs began to boom in the early 1980s. Nicely adorned in Sweden's national colors blue and yellow, Skyways used for of the slender aircraft when it was acquired by competitor Salair in late 1988.
