#sutton thread.

alright so maybe sutton shot herself in the foot there but she didn't expect for elena to have a gift in hand waiting to be received. they were just talking about a hypothetical, a daring accusation that sutton herself doesn't find to actually be true... until it's confirmed right to her face that her friends remain confused. "you... this is for me?" she speaks out slowly, hands reaching out to touch the perfect wrapped present between them. "i'm not so sure i deserve this anymore after what i said but i would never be mad at you, elena. do i get a hint?"

"okay so, like, just keep in mind i'm totally relaxed about this as i ask but..... who — who was that earlier? it's just, i saw you walking with her across campus and she just looked a bit, um, gorgeous. hoping maybe she's a relative... or something?" unlikely and the more she talks, the more ridiculous she probably sounds but after about a week, it's safe to say it's been the only thing on sutton's mind.

"i lied, okay? i've tried to bring it up a few times now and... the topic never came up," she murmurs with a tiny roll of her eyes (mainly to deflect more than out of annoyance). realistically, the topic is never going to come up unless sutton puts it out there first and foremost so while she understands it's not ideal, it still wasn't anything she wanted to address today. "i'm not embarrassed by you. maybe if you worked in retail or something," she waves off casually, "but that's not exactly why i thought you'd make a good girlfriend. are you seriously implying that i'd forgotten something like that? it wasn't that long ago i popped in."

"oh for fuck's sake, what do you want?" skirting around the topic, not making any sort of eye contact when all sutton wants is an answer — each of them a telltale sign that the point won't be coming across anytime soon. so naturally, sutton reaches out with proverbial tongs and pulls, hoping to pry it out of them so she doesn't have to be stuck in this merry-go-round for much longer. "you've got, like, two seconds to tell me or i'm getting up and walking away."

"yes, i've eaten today," sutton responds in typical snappy manner, thinking to herself that she shouldn't have even entertained it with the way hana was speaking to her. besides, how is her attitude right now any different to the usual? it's not like sutton was made of sunshine and rainbows, especially now that her best friend and roommate are practically glued at the hips. can't even get in a word edgewise before her water is swiped from her just before she's able to get a sip in. "hey! what the fuck? no you can't have a sip, you know where the water is!" not that it changes the situation, sutton's hands still empty of her bottle. knew that there would come a time where permission is no longer necessary but with her being so bitter about the recent dating changes, she didn't think that was still in effect. "wh — pft. please. i really don't give a shit that you two are dating. all i asked was if you had a key or now," she tries to save, lying out her ass.

"okay, it's official - you have the worst taste in movies." and if that were cause for sutton to just end things, she would. what had transpired of her little secret stint has now turned a 180 on her and every additional moment sutton spends with her is making it harder and harder for her to reveal the truth. "i can't believe you actually made me watch all two and half hours of that."

"jeans? i get that it's casual but..." there's nothing exceptionally flirty when it comes to wearing jeans and a top and she doesn't know that anything billowy at the top would be any more flattering either. "it's warm out! wear, like, a sundress or something! sundress at a bistro would be really cute!"
