Steve Argyle - Magic: the Gathering Guilds of Ravnica Sure Strike, card # 118/259

Guilds of Ravnica will release on October 5, 2018.  Steve Argyle made two new illustrations for the release.  This is the second of those two.

Steve must be super happy with this one.  I know he was really proud of his Thalia, Guardian of Thraben piece three years ago and that was the last time he has shared his work with us at this larger-than-usual resolution.

I can not wait to see how these look in foil.

There’s an odd sort of art style going on with the figure in the back.  It looks a bit different than Steve’s usual work and I could have conceivably missed that this was his if I wasn’t reading artist credits before even looking at the illustration.  There’s something a bit cartoony or comic-booky about it.  I really like it though because it is really clean looking.  Things look a lot more stylish than realistic here.
