So, blizzard released a new short story for MERCY titled, “Valkyrie”
In this story, we follow Angela Ziegler as she helps out the locals in Cairo; the same locals Overwatch had negatively affected and Helix refuses to help. She recounts her childhood trauma from losing her parents (both of whom were medical professionals volunteering at a clinic iirc) and, once meeting up with Jack and Ana, feels the old echoes of Overwatch rushing back. We see..
*How the Valkyrie suit operates (Augumented strength, detecting life forms, performing a quick scan of a patient’s injuries, and an automated maneuvering program)
*We learn a bit about the actual yellow light stuff that Mercy heals with (“nanobiotics”). Mercy answers with, “not quite” when questioned by a patient if the healing light is composed of little machines. The light is warm, and typically serves to address the most obvious and immediant issues. We don’t know if it’s capable of healing larger scale injuries, or if it is over a longer period of sustained “healing” (man, she’s really feeling that 50hps nerf)
*Mercy dealing with the guilt of being a part of the reason the very infrastructure of Cairo is collapsing.
*and finally, we see Mercy mentally reignite her desire for heroism and for making a direct impact on the progression of the world to a better place. After all,
