I pulled a test print of this sucker. I got a new ink to play with, so I wanted to see what the ink was like before I prepped the fancy paper I picked up to print on. Additionally, making a test print give me an opportunity to see how it’s printing and make any last minute adjustments to the cuts. It also help to clean out all the loose linoleum particles that get stuck in the grooves, as even with a good brushing, some of these didn’t come out. You can see in the heart where some particles got stuck in the ink, as well as in the “E” in “Superpower”, where there was a particle which prevented the ink from getting onto the paper. However, I am quite happy with the quality of the lines and textures. It’s pretty much exactly what I intended for this work. With this piece I have picked up some #Speedball professional #SupergraphicBlack. As it’s an oil based ink, which means, once it’s completely dry, I should be able to do a watercolor wash over top of it. Well at least my original concept was to wash this series with watercolors, but I’m really digging the likes and textures in black and white. What do you folks think, should I leave it a black and white print series, or should I do the watercolor wash? #printmaking #blockprinting #linocut #linocutprint #linoleumblockprint #weireart #covidart #pandemicart #healthcareworkers #empathyart (at Embrace The Weird) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFOrizVh8ri/?igshid=1uzmaqnpvds0r
