I need a little advice here... I wanted to save up to get a Soom super gem or idealian when I'm out of school but their releases seem so sporadic I don't know what to do. I'm thinking about getting a recast because I'm not sure if I'll enjoy the size and I dont want to waste 800+ on a doll I may not enjoy, but I dont want to get thrown to the wolves and bullied if I do it. Any encouraging words or advice would be greatly appreciated
The thing is, as you put it, it might seem you already have legit dolls in 1/4 and smaller scales.
This means you get along with "proartists", "antirecast", or "elitists", and, if you're wanting for them not to turn into the actual wolves they always where when you show up with a recast (of any type), then, yes, you'll have an issue.
There's a big, huge, vast community of people (growing bigger every day) that either have only recast, recast and legits, or, are neutral and don't care about the topic at all.
They're on every social media, from Facebook to Instagram, to Tweeter, to Tumblr, to Reddit to YouTube. Whatever you think of, there's surely a pro recast friendly group out there.
But you need to take a side, not because of us, we got pro recast, neutral people, and any other dolls collectors. But "proartists" (antis) can't stand anything, their motto is "you're one of us or an enemy", and, well, I hope you can choose the people you enjoy your hobby with carefully.
Maybe you are one of them, maybe you would stop talking to childhood friends or family because of a doll, maybe you're okay with burning or throwing up your mom's gift doll and telling her just because she got you a recast, and, maybe you're okay with all that.
BUT! if you think you're a normal person who process normal feelings and thoughts like the rest of us, perhaps just give the middle finger to all the sick elitism out there making this hobby toxic and find some real friends who doesn't care about pricetags and COAs?
(If anyone wants to add some cheers to this anon, they're welcome!)

Redressed a doll, so she needed new pictures.

Tattered Love par AyuAna
Finished this medieval dress for SD16 girl and sent it to a buyer today. I think, Kitty (Soom Breccia) looks super cute with her new faceup (many thanks to GreenWolfy).
