It’s done! Made some tweaks after the outline I posted, including moving Shiftwo’s ear to a more anatomically appropriate place.

The full outline, pretty much! The revised Shiftwo design is as disturbing as it should be.

Got started on the actual thing! Oh, man, I’m starting to feel sad about Taylor’s fate again; that proud, oblivious grin on his face. I like his pose, too - I’ll see how badly I manage to wreck him when I try to put him in some actual clothes, but it’s a promising start, I think.

I successfully got Feraltwo looking a bit more menacing and grotesque and less dorky than in the thumbnail, so that’s a victory. A running theme with Rick’s superclones is retaining some juvenile traits from previous evolutionary stages (Raitwo’s ears being more Pikachulike, Sciztwo having a scythe on its left arm), and I didn’t like what I was doing with its belly in the thumbnail, so I gave it Croconaw’s leotard pattern instead - I think I like it.

An anon suggested a Hall of Fame-style shot of Taylor and his team, and I like that idea, so I started thumbnailing it (starting a drawing with six separate complex characters in it at two AM would have been a biiit ambitious). After putting Taylor himself, Feraltwo and Mewtwo^2 on there, I realized it’d probably be more productive to just thumbnail the others separately instead of making a mess with them partially obscured by the ones in front.

This may be the first time I’ve even really thought about what Shiftwo looks like, being that it’s a Sir-Not-Appearing-In-This-Fanfic and thus I’ve never had to even describe it, so it’s a bit rushed and ridiculous. Might do some better design thumbnailing before I do the actual thing.

So in chapter nine of the original version of The Quest for the Legends, Mark waltzes into Rick’s top secret cloning lab and, among other things, reads some posters the scientists have put up with plans for superclones they’re making. And into the middle of the text of the chapter posted on TCoD, I naturally inserted a parenthetical linking to what those posters looked like, with my very own Original Designs(tm) for amazing superclone Pokémon, rendered in Paint, with made-up signature moves for each of them. (I was going to do every single Pokémon, naturally, but got bored at Nidorina.)
