The most tragically oblivious dork.
Okay, that’s it, I think it’s done. There are actually two kinds of lighter balls there, with lighter or darker shading, but I’m not sure it’s easy to tell the difference, hrmm.
So September’s theme is scenes. Specifically, effortful scenes! For this month, rather than pumping out a drawing per evening, I’m going to do some work on more ambitious pieces instead and post my progress with them, the way I’ve previously done with stuff like the drawing of Taylor’s team.
This in particular is for my friend Isaac whose birthday it was the other day, who requested May and Taylor in ball pit therapy together (in a hypothetical AU where she doesn’t, you know, inadvertently kill him). Taylor is thrilled to be there; May is less so.
A single flat tone applied, because this was way more time-consuming than it should be and I need to go to sleep. Curse you, inevitable large amount of differently-colored balls.

The original plan was to ink this, but earlier I realized I’d managed to start drawing this on the back of a bunch of cat drawings that I don’t want to ruin with ink bleedthrough, so I guess I’ll just shade it. Did some outline cleanup here and other tweaks as well as raising the ball level (although maybe it should be even higher, hrmm). Later stuff this month will be inked! And there will be attempts at digital coloring!
It kills me every time I draw happy oblivious Taylor. He’s just such a kid. Somebody should have distracted him with ball pits in canon, then none of this would have happened.
It’s done! Made some tweaks after the outline I posted, including moving Shiftwo’s ear to a more anatomically appropriate place.
Man, this took a while, but it all went pretty okay, I think. I made several inking mistakes with Mewtwo^2 and Shiftwo after Sciztwo/Feraltwo/Taylor had gone pretty well, which was annoying, but oh well. A lot of the coloring here involves layers of like three or four colors blended together. I still couldn’t get them entirely right because they’re all supposed to be pretty dark, and my colored pencils really aren’t very dark.
The full outline, pretty much! The revised Shiftwo design is as disturbing as it should be.
