for the tmnt ask game: 5 and 16!
Thanks for the questions!
I've actually already tackled 16 about Favorite Villain. Feel free to check out my thoughts there. But ooo, number 5 really made me think:
Favorite Alien/Mutant Design?
So I think I'll give a few answers here because that just makes it more fun. I figured I'll split it between the major versions that I watch.
1987
Mona Lisa is a really fun design. It's my favorite between this and 2012 (though 2012 is still good). But I think they did a really good job with making it lizard like but also the same kind of humanoid that the turtles are. Since mutants are designed to be pretty grotesque but they really wanted Mona Lisa to be equal in terms of design.
I'm also biased because I sent a letter to the voice actress of Mona Lisa, Pat Musick, years ago and not only did she write me back but she tracked down my number and called me😁
Second from 1987 has to go to Baxter. The fly mutation while definitely taking inspiration from The Fly is almost synonymous with 87 Baxter. It's hard to find a non-fly version of merchandise. I also love how he becomes more fky like as the series goes, both in terms of mannerisms and intelligence as it adds this real tragedy to it.
2003
I'm a big fan of Usagi’s world. Dunno if they count if not but I loved whenever we got to see characters from there. Because they had a different feel than mutated characters.
And the Dark Turtles and the Super Turtles. I just love the creativity to them! You can absolutely tell who they based off but they have their own personalities and style. I do wish we saw more of both of these sets!
2012
Ice Cream Kitty. Just Ice Cream Kitty. She just illuminates sweetness and sass and I love her so much. The limitations of her mutation (having to stay cold) is a fun story element too!
