Summary: Price and his team are being assigned the toughest mission yet. Watching over you. They aren't meant to sit in a very glorified safe house to make sure no one hurts you. You assume they've been updated on why they are here, on what you are. Unfortunately, the team is poorly informed on why you need them, but their about to find out.
"We aren't babysitters." Price threw the files back on her desk, huffing as he gestured over to his men. "We are for the field. We're here to work, not be stuck around to watch over a kid."
"They are 25, not a kid. Just younger. Unfortunately, until we can find another group to watch over them, you're the only group I currently trust." Laswell explains, gathering some loose papers knocked free from the file. "I did try to get you out of it. I didn't see the point of it either, but Sheppard insisted you four take the assignment."
"This is bullshit." Kyle mutters, but he holds Price's stare when his captain turns to him. "It is, sir. We're going to the middle of nowhere, for who knows how long, to watch over someone. Operation babysitting." He scoffs, and Simon grunts in agreement besides him.
Price sighs heavily through his nose. He should've known that his men would follow his lead, including his distain for the current mission they were assigned. He had to lead by example. No matter how badly he didn't want to do this, he needed to take charge.
"When do we deploy?"
You weren't at all what they expected.
Quiet, with eyes that stared almost unblinking, and teeth that looked a little too big for your mouth when you smiled at them. You wore long sleeves, baggy clothes that hung off your body, but you refused any size that would've fit you.
Quiet didn't even scratch the surface, though. You were almost silent, traversing through the safe house like you floated above the floors. You weren't heard before you were seen, and even Simon was unnerved by your silence.
The safe house wasn't quite what they expected either. It was a modern farm house style home, big, but in the middle of nowhere. On all sides, for miles, they were surrounded by thick forests.
After only three days, Johnny was the one who suggested you weren't human.
"So what would they be? A ghost?" Simon presses incredulously, raising his mask over his face to spark a cigarette. Outside smoking time was nice. They would do a small perimeter, let you get some fresh air in the overgrown garden, and have something to do other than sit in the house.
"I'm not sayin' their a ghost, Si! I'm sayin'... they didn't know what a phone was. What 25 year old that you know doesn't have a phone?" Johnny leans closer to the group as he presents his, albeit shaky, evidence.
"We don't know why they are here, or who they are hiding from." Price grumbles in annoyance, giving Johnny a pointed look. "Speculation isn't going to help."
"You don't think that this whole thing is strange? Even just a little?" Kyle pipes up, having been silent since they'd all sat down.
"I have my questions, but we have our orders, and we follow them. Y/N is a bit strange, but they've got their reasons." Price hesitates, knowing that he didn't really get much from your file. There wasn't much to you, and there wasn't a solid yes or no on if Y/N was your real name.
"Is there something in their file that you saw?" Simon presses, noticing the way Price furrows his brow. Before Price could answer, Johnny shot to his feet.
"Shit, Y/N is gone."
The team had become so involved in they're conversation, no one was double checking that you were safe. The backyard was empty, and there were only ten yards from the tree line. Price rose immediately, glad he'd kept himself and his team mostly dressed and ready for this. He would always be prepared, and once checking that the radios were on and ready; the team quickly split up into the woods to search for you.
"Should we call out for em?"
Johnny was covering Simon as they followed beside a foot path in the woods. There were boot prints, not ones the team had made, leading towards the house, but not away.
"We would blow our cover, Johnny.."
"What if they just ran off? To fuck with us for talking about em?" Johnny quips back, and ahead of them, a tree branch snaps.
"I highly doubt that." Simon murmurs, eyes scanning the area for any other signs of movement.
Movement came, and it came far too fast. A body flung across the foot path and slammed back first into a trees trunk. The sickening crack made Simon's stomach drop, and before he could begin to question if it was Price or Kyle, you came into view.
You had... grown into the size of your clothes, towering tall and gangly in an unnatural way. You crouched over the mans body, grabbed it, and tossing it again to test for a reaction. When you didn't get one, you let out a harsh grunt of approval, head turning toward Simon and Johnny.
"Jesus..." Johnny breaths in horror, your eyes sucken in on your face, skin drawn tight across your body in a painful looking way. He grabs hold of Simon's bicep and squeezes hard when Simon raises his gun. "Do not shoot." He hisses, eyes never leaving yours.
"That's not a fucking human." Simon growls, pushing himself in front of Johnny and fixing his gun on you. Within seconds, you crossed the space between him, grabbing the gun and ripping it out of his hands. Simon tries to scramble back, but you grab hold of him. Your hand took up his entire torso, yanking him close to your face.
"I was. Before." You rasp, eyes searching across his face. Behind you, a gun fires. Your grip tightens involuntarily, a shriek leaving your lips as you let him go and raise to your full height. Your head snaps quickly toward Price, Kyle not far behind him with his gun slowly lowering.
You let out another shriek, and despite the new wound in your leg, begin bolting away from the team and toward the safe house. The woods fell silent. No birds, no bugs. Just the sound of their harsh breathing as they looked between themselves. They needed to get on the phone with Laswell, with two important questions.
What the fuck just happened, and what the fuck had they been signed up for.
This is loosely based on an OC that I've created, though I'll be changing a few details. After all, this is fan fiction. You may be asking yourself, Cryptid, shouldn't you finish the series you've started before you start more? And to that I say, you can't stop the brain worms.

I've been seeing a lot of non-human readers recently. So how about a werewolf reader gang headcanons?
Please check if the ask box is open AND read my âWhat I writeâ post before sending in an ask. Thank you. Â
Going to combine two asks since theyâre similar
 Before they know/find out
One day Jackâs playing with a stick
He gets bored of it and throws it
You had been helping Tilly with some chores
She sees your whole body flinch towards the stick
As if you wanted to go get it
âAre you okay?â
âYeah, Iâm fine. Just.. scared me is all.â
If youâve gone a few days without a bath you tend to get itchy
You wonât full out use your leg to scratch but you will rapidly scratch behind your own ear
Causing a few members of camp to stare
âWhat? It was really itchy.â
  When your hair gets wet,
Either by bath or rain
You tend to shake your head
No one really noticed how dog-like this was until Cain did it a moment after you
 Youâre really good at hunting
So good that you always come back to camp with the best deer and plumpest rabbits
Youâve growled at some people on more than one occasion
You freak the hell outta Micah when you growl at him
Youâve actually bared your teeth at him once so he thinks youâre crazy
Mary-beth is the one to finally figure it out
Since she loves reading sheâs bound to have found a book about werewolves
It just so happens she finds one on a full moon
The same night you leave on a little âhunting tripâ by yourself.
When you come back she confronts you
You chuckle nervously as you deny it but she throws fact after fact at you
Until she gets one wrong
And you correct her
âI donât eat people! Thatâs gross!â
You stare at each other as she grins at you
With a big sigh you hold out your hand
âGimmieâ
She hands you the book and you proceed to tell her whatâs correct in the book and whatâs fake
âOkay, itâs pure coincidence that I left on a full moonâ you say as you roll your eyes âI donât have to wait to change and no- before you ask, I donât howl at the moon.â
After a lot of convincing from her, you tell everyone
Micah avoids you
He doesnât like dogs, he likes wolves even less
âKnew there was somethinâ off about them.â
Growl and snap your teeth at him and heâll actually yelp
John is also a bit iffy
Considering wolves clawed his face up, he has every right to be
âIâll tell the locals to leave you beâ
âThanksâŠ?â
Youâre now the main provider of food for campÂ
(As if you werenât already)
If they ever need to track someone down,
Youâre on it
You go with Arthur on Bounty Hunting things a lot
Saves him time and he gives you half the reward
Jack will wanna see your other form
Abigail will be super embarrassed (and nervous) and apologizeÂ
âBut I wanna see!â
âJust think Cain⊠but bigger. Much bigger.â
As with anything even remotely useful Dutch will want to exploit it to its full extent.
âWhatâs the plan, Boss?â
âIâm not saying you maul Colm and his men in his sleep⊠but Iâm not⊠not saying that.â
âGross, Dutch. Gross.â
âYou donât have to eat him!â
Kieran is even more nervous than he normally is around you
âJust... you donât eat horses, d-do you?â
âOf course not!â
âO-Oh good.â
 Overall theyâre very accepting
Youâve been with them long enough that they know youâd never hurt them
Of course as with anything occult Karen and Swanson are on their guard
Iâve got another for ya, what if reader has super powers, is able to fly. But theyâre kinda lazy so all they really do with it is use it to avoid walking, so theyâre always kinda floating around or laying down mid-air and despite the begging from other gang members to use it for making money they just kinda whine and moan cuz itâs too much work
I think I may still be a bit tapped out from the giant word dump that was the 100 follower special. I had to tweak it a bit, but hereâs what I came up with.
It somehow turned into a Charles X Reader fluff.
At first, everyone is super frustrated with you.
You don't want to go out and use your special power to make money, instead preferring to float around camp, help the women, guard duty, weapon detailing, the like.
No one understands why.
Hosea is the one who confronts you about it, rather harshly too.
He stops when he notices that you had basically curled up into a floating ball.
He asks why, and you tell him, making the older man laugh.
Turns out you just really didn't want to go out alone.
Hosea tells you to just ask someone to go with you.
You didn't think it would work, and, well,
You were right.
You had learned about this house a couple days ago that you thought would be easy pickings.
You had asked if Bill or John wanted to go with you.
But they just laughed at you saying that you just wanted them to do all the work.
It hurt.
You handed the information over to Arthur, who thanked you and you floated away.
For the next couple of days, all you did was clean the weapons and sew.
Literally, everyone in camp knew that you had gone into a funk, but weren't sure how to approach the matter to find out why.
Charles was the first to approach, with some gentle coaxing he managed to get you to tell him why you were so down.
When you did he frowned and said he'd be right back.
He'd gone to his tent and picked up his bow along with a few arrows, and holstered his sidearm.
He told Hosea in about what happened and that he was taking you out of camp for a bit.
When he got back to you he said he was going to take you out of the camp to go hunting.
"But I don't know how to hunt."
"That's alright, I can show you."
You smiled and you two were heading out to hunt.
Charles shows you how to grip the bow, how to nock the arrow, draw the string, and release.
After a few tries, you think you got the hang of it enough to try hunting a deer.
Thanks to your floating you could get up high enough that the deer won't smell you, and since you weren't on the ground they couldn't hear you coming.
Giving you ample time to line up your shot right to the back of the head.
Once you brought the beast down you gave a huge grin and looked back at Charles.
Who gave you a thumbs-up.
After loading the deer onto the back of Taima, and snagging a couple rabbits, you two made your way back to camp.
(The superhuman request) sorry about that my phone auto corrected. I was thinking like super strength and enhanced smell, hearing, sight and touch.
Like reader accidentally rips doors open by accident and when they punch someone that person goes flying into a building. Reader tries really hard to hide their new abilities but canât      Â
Please check if the ask box is open AND read my âWhat I writeâ post before sending in an ask. Thank you. Â
This got long cause I pressed enter a lot o-o
The Mary-Beth, Tilly and Karen are the first to notice anything is up
You confuse the heck outta them when you tell them âGrimshawâs coming, better get back to workâ
And the next minute the woman is there looking for someone to yell at for slacking off
Grimshaw hadnât been yelling, and you werenât even looking in the direction sheâd come from
So howâd you know? (You could hear her say something to Mr. Pearson on the other side of came before she started to march over)
Youâre at a bar with Bill, Sean, and (even though he wasnât invited) Micah
Well Bill starts something and a brawl breaks out
You have to defend yourself against some drunk
The crashing sound makes everyone stop
And they all turn to see the guy youâd punched had gone out the window
From where you were standing by the bar
Thankfully everyone was drunk enough that they figured their mind was playing tricks on them
Though Micah now avoids angering you as he actually saw you punch the guy
On a job with some of the guys, youâre robbing a homestead
Thereâs a locked shed
Javier tosses you a lock pick before he, John and Arthur go to the main house, barn and side barn
You donât mean to but you figure, why waste time with a pick?
And so you end up breaking the door off its hinges
You try to put it back
But end up breaking wooden frame of the door
When they come backâŠ
âWhat the heck happened?â Johnâll ask
âIt broke. The uh- it was probably real rusted. It just fell...âÂ
You try to dismiss it and make them forget but Javier and Arthur really arenât buying it
John doesnât really care as long as you didnât get hurt when the door âfell offâ
Now while most of camp has their suspicions from incidences youâve had with or around them
No one knows for sure thereâs anything abnormal with you
Until one day Charles is replacing one of the wagon wheels and asks for your help
Yours, Johnâs and Billâs that is
He figured it would take about the three of you to lift the wagon enough for him to put on the new wheel
As hard as you try to not actually lift it
You do
And the wagon almost tips over
It crashes back down as you back away
Everyoneâs staring at you
You scan their faces
Concern (Hosea, Dutch)
Fear (Karen, Kieran, Micah)
Confusion (Arthur, John, Bill)
Awe (Jack, Javier, Mary-Beth, Tilly, Sean)
A mix of all four (pretty much everyone else)Â
Hosea is the one to step forward and ask if youâre alright
You answer honestly
âI donât knowâ
Arthur pipes up
âPearson, wha chu been feedinâ them?â
Then John
âYeah, I want what their havinâ!â
Both smiling towards you
âMe too! Me too!â Jackâll cheer making everyone chuckle, lightening the mood some
Relief washes over you as Hosea and Dutch express concern for your well being
Instead of getting upset that you almost broke the wagon or could possibly break other things
Miss Grimshaw will ask you to help out more, so get ready for that, unfortunately
As will Dutch (but Hosea will keep him from relying on you too much)
Hosea is there whenever you wanna talk even if itâs not about handling your powers
Youâre mostly sent on recon stuff. Overhear where some loot is, see how many people are down in that canyon guarding that chest, etc.
A few people still avoid you out of fear but they slowly warm up to it
Karen takes the longest.
You think she doesnât trust Trelawnyâs âdevilâ magic?
She may or may not have asked Swanson to âhelpâ
Micah avoids you just so he doesnât accidentally piss you off
And Kieran is still a bit skittish but when is he not?
Hope that was okay/what you were looking for. Sorry it took so long.
