Five good/positive things that happened to you in 2018

Le husbeast and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary! <3 <3 <3

I got to spend a goodly amount of time with family and friends (including multiple visits with the incomparable @tiffotcf and their excellent spawn/my goddaughter who is the absolute best)

We adopted two adorable buttholes bunnies, whom I love with all my shriveled little heart <3

I managed to claw my way past some nasty writer’s/artist’s block and ACTUALLY WRITE AND DRAW SOME THINGS GODDAMMIT

I stopped caring so much about whether I was *~*~too fat*~*~ for certain things and as a result I got the haircut I’ve been wanting for years, spent the year experimenting with fun hair colors and makeup, slowly started collecting a wardrobe that emphasized style and comfort over hiding myself away, and got a bonus boost in self-confidence as a result! <3 <3 <3

And a bonus point: I got to spend quality time on here with y’all! <3

My part of an art trade with my friend @suolasirotin! These two are her gem characters, Blue Goldstone "Nebby" and her girlfriend Goldstone "Goldie". This was fun to do, I love the design of these two. GLITTER!

ROSE BAMF TYLER

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Perfectly human, wonderfully dimensional, understandably flawed; compassionate and selfish and clever and just generally amazing. She’s in love, but that’s not the only thing she is. Absolutely one of the best-written (and best-acted) characters I’ve ever encountered. And of course Billie Piper’s performance is so absorbing it’s easy to think of Rose as a real person, rather than a character. Love, love, love.

Donna wins for best/worst character arc, in that it’s beautiful and poignant, and also makes you want to smash things

Ahhh Martha my love, so smart, so beautiful, so capable, so fed-up with the Doctor’s bullshit. I luff her

Jackie Tyler

So just like the other companions’-moms in the RTD-era, Jackie initially suffers from a case of Extremely Unflattering and Flanderized Portraits of Overbearing Motherhood(tm) only to rise from the ashes like a fully-developed well-realized phoenix. As series 1 and 2 go on, Jackie just becomes increasingly more likeable and sympathetic, and I love how her relationship with Mickey develops. 11/10 excellent surrogate-mom-ing

Admittedly I’m not super well-acquainted with his material outside of the show, but even if the movie is cheesy af, Paul McGann’s charm is unmistakable, his enthusiasm fucking contagious. I would love to see more of his Doctor onscreen. (insert obligatory rant here re: how he got robbed in the 50th. ::shakes fist at Moff and co.::)

Mickey Smith

I just have a big ol’ soft spot for Mickey...he kind of reminds me of the better parts of Xander from Buffy, except that he isn’t a Nice Guy(tm), he’s a nice guy who’s fiercely loyal and smarter than folks (::coughthedoctorcough::) give him credit for. Another character with a brilliant arc. I know some folks feel like his match with Martha is a case of Pair the Spares or whatever but I think they’re great together--he’s going to make her feel wanted and adored, and she’s going to make him feel important and needed, and, of course, vice versa. Good stuff.

Harriet Jones

Look I just like her a lot okay and also her decision re: the Sycorax was perhaps not super “honorable” or whatever but also like. It’s super understandable. And to her credit, as far as we’re aware, the Earth goes largely unfucked-with for the rest of the season, til the finale. So, results! Also the Doctor did her dirty which, didn’t that just open the door for the Master/Saxon to assume power? Didn’t it? Yikes Just sayin’.

Ultra loveable, fantastic one-off companion. The wonderful grandparent everyone deserves to have. Also my granny has both of those exact headbands. :D
