beckett is a ray of sunshine that teaches english to high school students here in la and he has a six year old daughter named cora. he’s a single father and she is his world. 

some relevant (or not) background info (death tw):

born in monona, iowa, on january 1st in the middle of a raging snowstorm. he loves to tell people this and seems to be extremely proud of himself for it.

he is an only child and his parents love him a lot. they still live in iowa and supported beckett financially for a long time. about three years ago, he stopped accepting their financial help and tried to get himself off the ground. he’s working on it, but his credit score is not stellar. his student loans loom over him.

beckett has never done anything half-heartedly (except maybe eating his peas). when he played with legos, he made palaces. when he drew pictures or colored, not one spot on the page remained white. when he watched movies or tv shows, he laughed and cried harder than anyone else. 

although a bit more subdued now that he’s an adult, beckett still has strong emotions and often uses writing as a way to either avoid or escape them. he does the same with other issues, like the financial. 

beckett actually has a phd in creative writing and is published in many journals around the country, with one book of short stories that is due to be published soon. he’s waiting for a position to open up at one of the surrounding universities, so during that time he’s teaching high school students.

cora’s mother was lise duval, a french exchange student that beckett met while obtaining his phd. she was the love of his life. shortly after obtaining his phd, lise was struck and killed in a hit and run. they never found the perpetrator. cora was three at the time. just recently he decided to move out to la to start anew. 

beckett throws himself into his job as parent and teacher to avoid confronting his emotions. he may seem like a goofball, but beckett knows pain well. he does his best to be a positive light for others so they don’t have to know pain, too.

yeah, so i got called into work for today & tomorrow which means i won’t be able to get my replies done until tomorrow night..... i’m irritated beyond belief but apparently my GM didn’t do the schedule right and now i’m working doubles both days :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

also, i’d just like to take a second to thank ya’ll for being amazing & understanding. but also to apologize for the lack of my presence. life has hit me in the face the past week and it’s getting on my damn nerves.
