When an eyewear company starts to venture into the food industry, one would immediately think: “What the hell are they thinking?”. Surprisingly (or maybe not at all), Sunnies Cafe’s new journey is pretty successful. The establishment is definitely not just feeding your mouth, but also your eyes.
I clearly remember finding out about Sunnies Cafe through Sunnies’ official Instagram account. They used to post about trying out a new concept. They got their followers hooked with their relentless teasing on breakfast dishes. Guess what? I’m one of their victims. *laughs*
Visited their Megamall branch located on the second floor. The place is very IG-worthy and hip (a signature Sunnies move) but I think their BGC branch is better.
Yes, I’m the first customer that arrived (YAAAAAS!), meaning I could get a lot of photos without photobombers. I visited here around 10am and when I passed by around noon, all seats were taken. Yikes!
When it comes to their menu, Sunnies Cafe does not have a singular theme; in fact, they’re serving fusion dishes and drinks coming from different continents around the world. The variety of meals range from pastas to tacos. Although it seems that this establishment is suffering from multiple identity disorder, everything about Sunnies Cafe worked...perfectly.
One of their bestselling milkshakes is called Kimye (gotten from Kim K and Kanye’s relationship name play) which is composed of cookies and cream ice cream, nutella, crushed oreos, whipped cream, and malted milk. You can actually ask the staff to lessen the sweetness level - which I did. After all, this drink seemed to scream “DIABETEEEEEEES!” to me.
Kimye Milkshake is an absolute delight. The cookies and cream flavor is intense BUT in a good way! It does not taste like a cheap version of cookies and cream drink which other restaurants seem to sell. The drink is very creamy and thick - both are part of the essential elements on what makes a milkshake great.
My verdict? MUST TRY!

Currently only the bestselling dish in the All-Day Brunch section is their Sunnies Risotto. After trying it, I CAN SEE WHY. The other dishes from the same section would DEFINITELY have a hard time competing with this astounding dish.
Sunnies Risotto is composed of grana padano cheese, risotto, caramelized bacon, sous vide egg, and homemade gravy. Geez, just writing these ingredients make my mouth water right now. Everything about it is utterly delicious: it’s creamy, cheesy, and runny. After mixing everything together, the slight touch of it in my mouth made my tastebuds cry in joy. The flavor and seasoning is well put.Â

I bow down to this dish.
For appetizers, I got their Crispy Tacos. It’s made out of asado steak, fried quail eggs, homemade crispy parmesan taco shells, and cilantro cream sauce. Since I don’t like veggies, I removed the leaf. *grins*
The filling is quite good; the sweetness of the beef and the yolky goodness of the quail egg matched each other wonderfully. There are three downsides I’d encountered with this dish: it’s actually pretty messy to eat since the sauce keeps running through my fingers, the meat falls apart all over the place, and the tacos would be tough to chew if you don’t eat it immediately.
