“So... how long will this tattoo last?” the white-haired girl – Yue, had it been? – asked, biting her bottom lip.

Mai bit back a sigh, tapping her nails on the arm of her chair. The black paint had started to chip. “Eternity,” she drawled, spinning her silver ring around her pinky.

The darker-haired girl next to Yue glowered at Mai. The overprotective girlfriend – Suki, if memory served. “One to two weeks, babe,” she answered on Mai’s behalf. “It’s just an airbrush tattoo.”

Yue still appeared uncertain, and Mai decided to take pity on her. “Look, they’re a good way to see if you like your chosen design and its placement. No harm, no foul if you don’t.”

“And I already told you the crescent moon is a perfect choice,” Suki added. Mai didn’t miss how her voice softened as she spoke directly to her girlfriend.
