HBO is launching a new documentary called Get Suited for LGBTQ youth, and asks for videos.
In en email they sent me they say that LGBTQ youth between the age of 13 and 24 may go to getsuitedhbo.com to enter @HBODoc’s 'Get Suited’ contest with a video sharing their personal thoughts on fashion and identity:
“Winners will receive custom-made suits from Brooklyn’s Bindle & Keep - a bespoke tailoring company that looks beyond the gender binary - plus an all expense-paid trip to New York, and more!”
Submissions accepted through 5/6.
There is definitely a commercial aspect to this competition, as it is partly focusing on tailoring company based in Brooklyn. However, this is a company that is focused on the LGBTQ community and which, according to HBO, “looks beyond the gender binary, creating custom-made suits for gender non-conforming and transgender clients.”
It could be interesting, and the fact that HBO is presenting a documentary on trans and genderqueer identities and gender expression is a good sign, in my opinion.
