#OnThisDay Sugar Ray Robinson rolled back the years for one electrifying burst of power in 1957 to knock out middleweight champion Gene Fuller with an inch-perfect left hook to the chin in the fifth round in front of 14,757 fans at the Chicago Stadium. Thus Robinson, the greatest ever to lace them up, became the first man to win the world middleweight crown four times. Robinson later called the shot "the most perfect punch of my career.” Fullmer recalled: "I didn't know anything about being hit. I didn't know anything about being down. The first thing I knew, I was standing up. Robinson was in the other corner. I thought he was in great condition, doing exercises between rounds. My manager crawled into the ring. I said, 'What happened?' He said, 'They counted to ten.'
