Another formerly ranked fighter Midget Wolgast fought was Ernie Peters, a Chippewa Indian from Chicago, Illinois. Peters was described as "a hustling, aggressive, and fast-punching scrapper" by Minneapolis' "Star Tribune". He fought some rousing battles with a few notables, like Newsboy Brown and Speedy Dado. In his first bout with Wolgast, Peters was competitive, though he was out-sped and dropped 6 of the contest's 10 rounds, with the other 4 being even. In the rematch, a large crowd saw a one-sided mismatch. Peters apparently had a "world of speed," but was toyed with from start to finish. It was said that at times the New York State Champ Wolgast made "the Chicago boy look very ridiculous indeed." During the course of the bout, Wolgast managed to side-step one of Peters' rushes so quickly that Ernie fell through the ropes and out of the ring. #boxer #boxingfanatik #boxing #boxing👊 #boxingjunky #boxinghistory #history #jeremiahpreisser #chicago #illinois #erniepeters #chippewa #historical #pugilist #pugilism (at Chicago, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-xsKk2l__K/?igshid=171pqio7myhf5
