al! dear! i figure theres no better person to ask this to so, any books with tech-y nerdy/sci-fi/anything with computers or technology stuff, but thats not straight?
SUR my love,, frankly i have not found much gay sci fi stuff but i have sent lots of recs to @simonspear so i hope she’s kept some of them to help us out asdhgh (she’s my go to sci fi nerd)
BUT OKAY. books i have read that aren’t straight but are more sci-fi than not:
adaptation by malinda lo: i actually finished rereading this series this week lol, it’s still so good. bi mc, and you think it’s a love triangle but wait till the end
proxy by alex london: i did read and enjoy this but hated the fucking ending, warning for bury your gays :((
coda by emma trevayne: ok i still love this bc i’m a sucker for band fiction, but there is bury your gays (side char), and the main relationship is hetero-passing but mc is bi!
the martian by andy weir: this is the most obvious answer but hey, there are no main relationships at all so it gets included
we are the ants by shaun david hutchinson: i have mixed feelings on it and it’s probably not something my dad would class sci fi but it has aliens in sooooo?
ones i haven’t read but want to:
otherbound by corinne duyvis: i read another book (on the edge of gone, which is also sci-fi but i think more het) by this author and loved it, so high hopes
love in the time of global warming by francesca lia block: someone described it as a dystopian retelling of the odyssey so like……
more than this by patrick ness: i would die for the rest of us just live here so i have a huge amount of faith in all his other books and yet, am afraid to read them
but again, sci fi is not my specialty (im lame i just like boring ol contemporary fic) so if anyone else has any recs i’d love to hear em!
