sub-atomic study challenge 🌱
Soo... this blog is kind of dead because I found out very quickly that there's no time to post when you're trying to cram all that info into your head.
I want to try and get motivated a bit, so when I saw this simple study challenge, I decided to give it a try!
Day 1: Let's start easy, what subject(s) are you studying?
Molecular biology & biochemistry of organisms. (that's the official name!)
Day 2: What inspired you to take your subject(s)?
At first, the stuff we learned in our biology classes (mostly cells).
Then, I watched Cells At Work (I loved it!) and realized that it was learning about blood cells and immunity that sparked that interest in me and that I could focus on them.
Day 3: Where/When do you get most of your work done?
Unfortunately, my mind works the best when it's time to go to sleep... but going out to study in a library helps a lot. I wrote my Bc thesis there.
Day 4: What is your favourite topic within your subject(s)?
Day 5: If you were to describe your subject(s) in one word what would that word be?
Day 6: Where would you like your subject to take you?
Day 7: What interesting fact have you learned recently?
Day 8 : What do you find difficult within your subject(s)?
Day 9: What is your favourite song in your study playlist?
Day 10: What subject related book would you recommend to read?
Day 11: Do you have any hobbies or special talents?
Day 12: What’s a movie you enjoy that’s related to your field of study?
Day 13: What misconception about your subject annoys you?
Day 14: What did you want to be growing up?
An astronaut! Changed my mind when I realized how much physical training is involved :D I'm not really a sporty person...
Day 15 Who is your STEM idol?
Marie Curie and Rosalin Franklin! But admittedly, I don't know much about science history. I should learn about it more.
Day 16: Do you know any funny STEM jokes or puns?
Day 17: What article or video have you seen recently that fascinated you?
Day 18: Do you have a wow thats so cool moment/memory from your subject?
Day 19: Whats your favourite equation or formula?
Day 20: When you’ve had a bad/long day what makes you feel better?
Day 21: What textbook are you currently working from?
Day 22: What’s something you plan on learning to do?
I would like to know more about flow cytometry! Also need to brush up on my coding skills.
Day 23: If you had to take a different subject/course what would it be?
Probably toxicology or pharmacology, but if I had to change fields completely, then it'd be design!
Day 24: What colour do you associate with your subject?
Day 25: STEM subjects tend to have complex looking/sounding words, what’s your favourite?
Day 26: What makes your subject beautiful/interesting?
Day 27: If you could, is there something you would tell your younger self?
Day 28: Is there a cool gadget or experiment you like?
Fluorescence microscopy is SO MUCH FUN, what a shame that antibodies are so expensive!
Day 29: Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Hopefully I'll be a PhD student somewhere!
Day 30: You made it!! Take some time to reflect on the last 30 days.
