I'm a small town girl. I love small towns. Growing up in Burma, every weekend, my family would drive out to somewhere and have a picnic. After I moved to NYC, I try to get out of town at least every other weekend. I can proudly say I've been to almost every single town around NYC. Providence is one of my favorite.
I went to Providence many years ago - coincedently enough - it was also the time for PVD fest. When my blogger friend Nelly asked me to join her for the weekend, I jumped at the opportunity.
We stayed at the most beautiful historial Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel. Our suite was super spacious. Location also couldn't be better - right infront of the amazing Rhode Island State House.
One thing you may wanna try is the gondola ride. I did it the first time I visited. Since I was heading to Venice, Italy right after this trip, I saved the gondola ride until I got to Venice. But if you are visiting Providence for the first time, I'd really recommend it. Some of them even sing for you!
PVD Fest was a fun as I remembered it. Music, food and entertainment - what not to like! Nothing is better than walking up and down the streets, enjoying local artists performances and delicious food. This time we didn't have time to see the Fire show. But I've seen it the first time I visited and it was something I'll never forget. If you are looking for a fun weekend trip, Providence is the place to be!
