One more misstep, and I'll take that respect and shove it down your throat, along with a few of your teeth'. Pirate life in this day and age is a constant balancing act. Rivals, authorities, and even some so-called allies would love nothing more than to see him taken down. Yet, every time they think they’ve got him cornered, John Silver slips right through their fingers. Silver is a noted outlaw among his peers in his own right. Those who speak of him do so with a mix of awe, fear, and a dash of envy. And those who make the mistake of challenging him will face an untamed adversary—likely with a bullet or two in their guts! He is known as a cunning pirate, a fierce mercenary, and a resourceful smuggler, with operations spanning the Caribbean Sea. The Titans of Scriptoria

Overview

Among the vast diversity of Beastfolk, a unique classification has emerged: the Great-Bodied Beastfolk—races whose biology, instincts, and culture are deeply tied to massive size,nutrient storage, and physical girth. Unlike other races where slimness or muscularity is idealized, for these people,being fat and powerful is the pinnacle of health and beauty.

These Beastfolk are not simply large due to lifestyle or diet.Their bodies demand high caloric intake, and their fat serves as insulation, energy reserves, magical buffering, and social signaling. To lose weight is not only dangerous but perceived as an early warning of sickness or magical imbalance.

“You’ve lost weight” is a medical alarm. “You’re looking bigger” is a romantic flirtation. “He’s the thickest bull in the herd” is high praise.

Biological Traits

Fat-Mass Dependent: These Beastfolk possess organs and systems that rely on stored fat to function properly. Their magic, resilience, and thermal regulation are all rooted in their body mass.

Muscle-Fat Symbiosis: Beneath their fat lies dense, heavy musculature. They are strong and soft, like armored giants draped in velvet.

Appetite Magic: Many possess passive enchantments that accelerate digestion, enhance nutrient absorption, and convert excess food into magically reinforced fat.

Magic Buffering: Their fat acts as a buffer for magical surges or Resonance instability. Powerful Legacy Artes may cause them to gain weight rapidly as their bodies store magical energy.

Cultural Values

Weight as Worth: Strength, leadership, and wisdom are associated with size. A tribal chief, teacher, or warrior must look the part: round, imposing, and warm.

Pachyderm Beastfolk (Elephants, Mammoths, Hippos)

Traits: Immense endurance, thick skin resistant to both magic and weapons, and near-unshakable physical stability.

Cultural Notes: Mammoth clans prize wisdom, storytelling, and bulging physiques. They have the largest recorded fat-muscle ratios.

Magic Affinity: Earth and memory-based magic stored in “fat folds” of magical resonance.

Porcine Beastfolk (Pigs, Boars)

Traits: Warm-bellied, tenacious, and socially intuitive. Boars are barrel-chested juggernauts; pigs are plush diplomats.

Cultural Notes: Pigfolk flirt with cooking as much as they do with compliments. The phrase “I could lose myself in your belly folds” is as romantic as it gets.

Magic Affinity: Charms, fertility, and growth-based spells often bloom in proportion to their girth.

Ursidae Beastfolk (Bears, Pandas)

Traits: Slow but overwhelming strength, and unmatched physical comfort.

Cultural Notes: Bears view weight as an emotional anchor. Losing fat is seen as grieving, stress, or loss of purpose.

Magic Affinity: Guardian shields and emotional auras grow more potent with body size.

Bovine Beastfolk (Bulls, Cows, Buffalo)

Traits: Wide frames, raw power, and ceremonial horns. Bulls are ideal warlords; cows are nurturing protectors.

Cultural Notes: Fat is tied to authority and sensuality. Many matriarchs wear elaborate belly rings to signal pride and fertility, though a lot are more muscled than really fat.

Magic Affinity: Stamina, weight-enhanced kinetic magic, and emotional stabilizers.

Some Marine Mammal Beastfolk (and merfolk) – Sealfolk

Traits: Rounded torsos, minimal necks, and a waddling walk—on land, they seem lazy. In water, they are unstoppable.

Cultural Notes: They value naps, belly flops, and long, drawn-out sea feasts. “Softness is speed” is a well-known proverb.

Magic Affinity: Tied to waves, tides, and dreamlike illusions that ripple from their body heat and motion.

Social Standing in Scriptoria

While some ignorant humans may still carry prejudice about these races, the magical and cultural communities of Scriptoria generally revere Great-Bodied Beastfolk for their endurance,warmth, and unshakable presence. They often act as:

Healers (using bodily warmth and protective resonance),

Tacticians (due to their grounded instincts),

Physical educators (as with Bellarox), and

Spiritual advisors, interpreting dreams or emotional resonances through “gut magic.”
