During our last cemetery séance, a wicked witch appeared in a cloud of smoke with a ghastly offer: Stop drawing comics forever, and she'd grant us a living wage. We looked at each other and cackled maniacally: "Begone, foul temptress! Our patrons are the ones we answer to!"

We told the witch: thanks to our Patreon subscribers, we ARE making a living with comics! She grew fascinated, frantically scribbling notes. Now she's launching her own Patreon for vegan potions. And we think that's beautiful.

That's the internet we grew up on and the the one we want want to be a part of. We know that the world wide web is not always a great place.

Its like we are full of contradictions. One moment you're laughing at a tortoise enjoying a fresh lettuce leaf, the next you stumble across some heinous hateful trash. Thats what it feels like to be online today. Your brain cannot stand this whiplash.

Sometimes we want to throw our phones into the river and be done with it all. But then we remember you, our readers. And the good internet. And that its not time to give up just yet.

Every comic we publish takes a lot of steps, from the initial scraggly idea to the final post. There's the sketching, the inking, the coloring, the writing, the rewriting, the "is this even funny?" crisis at 2 AM, and the sacred final click on the ol' publish button on our tried and true website.

We do this every single week because we love it and because you show up to read it.
