Bay Bites- Tales from the Bay: Bounty of the Bay
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Here you go, the beautiful Stump Pass. This is where my family and I go fishing. You can find all types of fish here.
We have caught Caravelle Jacks, Sheeps Head, Spiny Box Pufferfish, Ladyfish, Snapper, Catfish, Red fish, Pompano, both Sand and Spotted Sea Trout, Stingray, and a three foot hammerhead shark. That is just naming the ones I know what they are.
Every time we go out there are always Dolphins to greet us swimming as close as ten feet away from our boat. It truly is amazing going down the mangrove lined channels, especially at sunset, is something magical.
Fun fact, the top right channel, off to the right of the picture are about a dozen sail boats who live there. They have solar panels and little speed boats to ferry them to shore. It is the most interesting thing to watch.
In the bottom right of the photo is where we go crabbing. We have three traps that we use for crabbing. We fill it up with fish we have caught, come back in a day or two and check to see if we have any crab. Blue and Stone crabs are the ones we catch. I'll go more into detail later about crabbing.
