Hi everyone, how is everything going? It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on here because I haven’t been really productive during the break. But now I’m finally getting back on track; so here is me annotating some literature with some coffee that my mom got me. Anyways my exams start on February 11th so if anyone has some study tips I’m all ears. (Ps. the sun didn’t want to come out so the artificial lighting will have to do for now)
wednesday, june 3 • 2–3/90 days of an intentional summer
it’s been really good seeing my community finally come together to support the Black Lives Matter movement in an united front, even if it is much overdue. i’m really happy to see so much of my generation actively sharing resources, educating themselves, and donating/protesting when they can !! it’s one of the first things in 2020 that has given me some amount of hope that maybe change can actually happen this time ?? o:

summer creeps in softy as we watch the flowers bloom from behind our windows, here’s to hoping that this month treats us better than the last.

Week 4 of My 2020 Quarantine Challenge!
✨Thu✨ What is the best advice you’ve ever been given (e.g. from a teacher of friend)?
this was actually really difficult to think of and i wasn’t really sure what to put but then i remembered this story my year 6 (age 10-11) teacher gave me that is kinda the only advice that i can think of and its not very profound but it has stayed with me.
basically, my teacher had an older sister and when that sister turned 18, she basically got loads of letters from credit card companies telling her to get one of their credit cards and to cut a long story short she basically got a credit card from all of them and was using ALL of them. as you can probably imagine this was not a great situation to be in and her parents were furious but eventually she got it sorted out.
i learnt a few things from this that i still think of to this day:
saving money and being financially smart is important
don’t get loads of credit cards
people will try to sell you stuff and make it sound really good cause that is their job, so actually look at what they are selling you and ask yourself is it worth it
just because you are young, it doesn’t mean you have to be taken in
In the final stretch of collecting my thesis data! My last big experiment involves a reporter assay, and all of my plasmids are super similar so the table on the left is how I keep track of the cloning process. On the right is one of my RNA gels, I’m trying to troubleshoot the low yield I’ve been getting, haven’t figured out the problem yet :( It’s hard to stay positive with all the ups and downs of research, but jumping between projects is actually helping a bit, when I feel like I’ve hit a wall with one I can pick another! Anyone else have any tricks for keeping track of cloning?
