april study challenge / 24/04/17 - How do you like to study for tests? What methods are your favourite?
So pictured above is my bujo spread from my last exam session (i had loads of exams, yes) and i’ll explain you step by step how I prepare for those exams. It won’t apply to all subjects but that’s just what works for most of my classes.
1. First step is always gathering all my notes and stuff i have for certain exam. I go through everything making sure if I have everything or if there’s something i have to find more info about and stuff like that. Then I make list of things I have to look up (or no, if my notes are a-ok!).
2. Once I’ve done step 1. for all of my classes I try to prioritize which classes are harder/more important and need more attention and which of them are easier/the exam is not as demanding and I schedule it all - EVERY SINGLE STUDY SESSION FROM EVERY SUBJECT.
3. Step two of actual studying is either rewriting notes and adding the missing information or if I don’t have to do that I go straight into colour-coding. As I love puting everything into points (1. a. -, etc.) I chose one colour of highlighter for every single “level” and one coloured pen for small but useful info inside the text.
4. Then it’s kind of different for different subject but basically I go ahead and read out all of the notes - I love doing it out loud and that way I remember things a lot better. If there are additional texts or presentations to read I’ll do that now as well. If a subject is more complicated/there’s more to learn/it’s very important I’ll probably repeat this step.
5. Lastly, the day of the exam I like reading my notes on my way to uni, especially concentrating on things that are the hardest/most important.
I never do these stages (1,3,4,5) on the same day. I think it’s really important to let yourself rest in between tackling one subject, I try to do different subjects in one day. I think it’s more efficient to do smaller parts of studying for one subject throughout a week than chucking it all in one day.
