Welp, so the life rut I kept talking about in earlier posts finally hit...well "bottom" is a strong term. It hit a turn! I left my job with no other real opportunities in sight. Dumb, but let's establish now that it was the best option given the few that I had. Good? Good!

In my general tumblr I mentioned I wanted to use this time to get ripped like Piper says in Orange in the New Black. This probably won't happen, but look what StudioVeena just posted on facebook! 

I'm amid a ton of work...at work...and don't really have much time for pole-ing, or anything. I've been looking forward to the end of busy times and trying out a year membership at StudioVeena. Or a month. Or something. But it turns out they have a 3-day trial that takes a few seconds to sign up for. That was a bad idea. :-) Even if I don't have the time to do a full pole session keeping the pole and myself warm, I've been watching videos. Badnewsbears.

The sample videos weren't too convincing, but the lessons as a whole are pretty great if you have a pole at home I think! I broke down and got the trial membership because I just so desperately wanted to know what some half split grip hold looked like since I really want to work on my split grip. And I figured help on the CAR wouldn't hurt. Or the inverted crucifix. Or hey all of the other things they have lessons for. I could spend days straight on this site. The forums are pretty friendly too.

Just from quickly watching a few videos, I got the finally got the pole sit and basic plank as I mentioned in another post. I also tried and immediately got wrist sit (also called "hello, boys" =P), and thigh rest. :-) They organize lessons by skill level, and so based on what other moves I could get into confidently I got an idea of what else would be in my grasp. I almost wrote a post griping about how people classify moves and tricks really differently. StudioVeena is no different, but I'm finding it more than acceptable.

Since pole classes are not in session anymore I have been aching to find some type of instruction ANYWHERE.  Looking online at blogs have been very informative such as Lori Myer's Confessions of a Twirly girl, Aerial Amy, Chwennyland and Climb & Spin to name a few.  What I also have been noticing that Studioveena has been mentioned at least once as one of the major online pole lesson community. 

I've taken the plunge and I've signed up for a month's worth membership.  I've hesitated for this long because I have a tendency to go all out right up front and then ADD kicks in and I lose interest.  Also having a personal instructor just gives you that reassurance and extra spot that you need when you're trying to do new tricks.  I figured since I've been taking pole dancing classes since June.  I work out at home AND I received a X-pole for Xmas from my wonderful hubby.  It seemed natural to do the next thing.
