cloud is very reserved when you first start dating him. he's a bit intimidated by a relationship, as he's worried he might not be good enough for you and that, if he messes up, he'll lose you again

he loves affection, but he's too awkward to make the first move. he never wants to overstep any boundaries, so he's usually just pouting and waiting for you to give him a kiss, hug or some sweet words

due to his insecurities at first, cloud has a bit of a jealous side. he doesn't like seeing you with other guys (unless he knows them well) and he usually just pouts and sulks when you're with other guys

however, he's very protective of you as well! with so many people after him and sephiroth being a huge threat, cloud can't risk putting you in danger! he wants to help you defend yourself a bit, but he always throws himself into danger whenever your safety is on the line

the longer you date cloud, the more he begins to open up to you and the more he becomes himself as well. you learn more about him and his past, while cloud grows more comfortable with who he is

slowly, he begins to get more affectionate and loving. he'll still tremble when grabbing your hand for the first time, but with each subsequent time, the trembling becomes less and less, until it feels perfectly natural for him to make the first move and show you his love

you start to see cloud smile more often around you as well. first it's a small smile hushing over his lips here and there, but over time, he seems to be genuinely happy and content around you! he's at peace when you're near…
