Nasce a New York, più precisamente nel Queen questa montagna umana, che su un campo da basket sapeva però intrattenere come pochi, unendo alla mole che possedeva movimenti fluidi e un freestyler da vero professionista.

Il soprannome “Escalade” deriva dal nome di un SUV della Cadillac, che evidentemente ricordava molto il nostro Big man per stazza e potenza.
Troy viene inserito subito nel roster del primo Mixtape Tour del 2002, con cui partecipa a praticamente tutte le partite dal primo anno di creazione. Segnaliamo un’apparizione sulla copertina di Sport Illustrated per lui, oltre ad essere stato definito come leggenda dello streetball dalla rivista americana “Jet”.
Da segnalare nella sua carriera alcune partite per Louisville, squadra di college da cui aveva ottenuto un’offerta per una borsa di studio, (a patto che perdesse peso), ma in cui ha sempre avuto un ruolo piuttosto marginale.
