365 Creatures: Week 6!
It's... a very feathery week. In fact, it's an all-flight week, now that I look at it. Except for the streeler. But it is mimicking something that flies, so... that counts? Either way, we're really getting into Fantasy February now!
36. Monarch Butterfly + Streeler
It's the western migration for monarch butterflies! And while the process of a widely-migrating insect over generations with an innate knowledge of where to go and exactly when is magical... we must remember that my list is very long and the month only has 28 days. So! I added a streeler! I think they'd be friends.
37. Hippogriff
Oh no, another horse! Well, half-horse, but it still counts. It's a hippogriff! And I absolutely fell in love with the look of melanistic barn owls (I love color morphs, always), so that'll be the inspiration for the coloration! Even if an animal isn't on my list, it's still kinda on my list, you know?
38. Thunderbird
Years and years ago, I painted a thunderbird in my friend's house as a way to pass time. I took it home, intending to finish up the lovely Arizona background... I did not. But I did do the design, and that's what this one is based off of! It's more secretary-bird inspired than based, but I still really like this one.
39. Swooping Evil
Listen, the swooping evil is cool. I love an animal with a skull face. A recipe for cool. So, naturally, it made the list. I might play around with different colors, though. Maybe like a purple butterfly moment? That's an idea I just had while typing. Actually remembering it later? Unlikely.
40. Peryton
It's fantasy, we've gotta do a peryton. They're precious babies, I swear. But this is the exact reason why I have a bunch of random animals (mostly birds) saved to my phone. So I can get inspiration for a random beast! I've never seen a cuckoo before this. But it's perfect.
41. Monstrous Nightmare
Of course I've got HTTYD dragons on here, come on. And we're starting with a special one! This is my starter dragon from that old School of Dragons game, which I aptly named Skylah (because blue). I yearn for an open-world type dragon game. Let me tame dragons! And hoard them, like a... dragon!
42. Humming Bumble
Eldemore inclusion! I've got a few of these, actually! Man, I miss Eldemore. Great lore, great creatures, great story... I am solidly part of the Waiting-for-Eldemore-to-Come-Back Party (it's not... not possible?) Until then, I've got a few of their creatures coming up for Fantasy Feb! Starting with some little guys! The (almost) littlest guys, in fact!
We're really in the Fantasy now, aren't we? And more to come! February might be short, but we're making it count.
