After a traumatic experience, Alice decides to take a break from the chaos of the city, finding refuge in a small village near the mountains. She’s looking for tranquility and, luckily, her new neighbor seems to value peace as much as her. They share polite greetings, rarely talk, until, one day, they literally bump into each other at a local store. As if they’ve known each other a lot longer, he offers her a hot chocolate and she says yes. They develop a sort of routine, sharing each other company, sometimes surrounded by words sometimes only by the sound of a crackling fire. He teaches her the morse code while she provides new titles to his filmography for the long cold nights. He knows, she’ll probably soon put together the pieces of his past mysterious job but somehow he feels he can trust her. On the other end, she seems hesitant opening up to people. He thought they were making progress until a noisy group of tourists gets to town, at the only sight she paralyzed. He doesn’t hear from her for days, until he decides to make up some excuse to see her, to knock at her door, to break in, if necessary. He finds her and her shaken soul, he doesn’t force her to talk, he doesn’t ask what happened, the words were there, just waiting for someone who’d listen. If revenge is what she’s looking for, he’ll be more than willing to help.

I guess what I get from this movie is, we should, as an humanitarian society, try to think more of the consequences when justice isnt done, ‘cuz there is a terrible impact on rape victims (and all the other victims who dont get a say in whats being done to repair the damage done).
