Writing Challenge!

OK, so I was meditating in the laundry room, waiting for my clothes to get out of the dryer, because I didn’t bother to set my timer to tell me when it was up. This idea came to me in a vision. I know that October and November are the big novel writing months but I wanted to do one now. Like, September is an underappreciated writing challenge month because school is starting. You’re thinking about making your mark before it’s too late. The last of the fall weather where you can be outside in just a T-shirt is coming to a close at least in the northern hemisphere.

Enough preamble, that’s why I wanted to take a page from Edward Bulwer-Lytton and create the “it was a dark and stormy night” writing challenge. Nothing hard, no, genre constraints, you just need to write four long stories, or novellas (they can absolutely be a short series or interconnected, fanfic, or whatever.) The only rule is you need to start your story with the phrase “It was a dark and stormy night” and have that tie into the rest of the story. Like, it can’t be a non sequitur. Is this my idea? No. There’s another writing competition that does this but, who cares. I’m sharing this with y’all because this is what I want to write in September and maybe you guys want some guidance and this seems fun.
