5 Things That Happen To You When You Stop Dancing
Have you ever seen those reports about what happens to you body when you stop eating sugar, stop drinking coffee or stop doing something else that feels good? When dancing feels great, but with this trend to stop doing stuff, I thought it would be wise to research what happens when you stop dancing:
1. You get shorter!

Dancing and posture go hand in hand. Good posture makes you look taller, and can even correct and stretch your spine so you actually are taller. The reverse is also true. A little slouch more of the time, can become a big slouch all of the time. In no time your compactness could be permanent.
On the bright side, when you quit, you may meet more people at the grocery store when you ask for help to reach the top shelves.
2. You lose a few IQ points

Dancing pumps blood to the brain, giving it the glucose and oxygen it needs to function well. Dancing also help builds the wiring in your brain, which improves cognitive functioning like reasoning and problem-solving and general attentiveness.
On the bright side, when you quit, you will no longer intimidate anyone with your intelligence. And when the traffic cop asks if you know that you were speeding, you can legitimately say no.
3. You lose your memory

In addition helping general cognitive functioning, dancing stimulates the hippocampus in your brain and keeps it strong. Hippocampus is the part of the brain most directly linked to memory.
On the bright side, when you quit, you will never get bored because you will not remember much of what happened just a few minutes ago.
4. You get sick with colds and flus

The social dance connection has been shown to boost the immune system.
On the bright side, when you quit, you will be home sick a lot more and be able to binge on Netflix.
5. You look older if you are older, and younger if you are younger

It is always a kick after leaving a comp or a workshop or wherever else you find a lot of dancers and then see people in the “ordinary” world. In dancing, teens and young adults look poised and mature. Mature dancers look vibrant and youthful. Ordinary 18 and 48 year olds look… well… 18 and 48.
On the bright side, when you quit, you will start looking your age and you will no longer stand out among your non-dancing friends. Who wants to look awesome anyway?
