-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ever since you and Steve officially got married, people have been asking you the same thing over and over. It was a question that the two of you and Robin didnât really have an answer to.
Because no, you didnât have plans for adding a baby any time soon.
So every time someone asks, âWhen are you having kids?â you would reply with, âWhen the time feels right.â Technically it was an answer, even if people seemed disappointed that you didnât reply, âOh Iâm pregnant right now!â
But after everything you three had been through, every awful thing youâd seen and the number of times youâd all almost died, bringing a child into the world was complicated. What if something bad happened? What if something evil came back to hunt you all down?
Youâd never forgive yourself for putting a child in such a dangerous situation.
But as the years passed without any new evil appearing, and your biological clock making itself known, the topic of having a baby no longer seemed so scary.
Especially when it switched from people older than you asking to people younger than you wondering. For some reason when Dustin, then Lucas, then Will asked you about it during Max and Lucasâs engagement party, you found yourself wanting to give a different answer. You wanted now to be the right time.
And then when things had gotten steamy between you Steve and Robin that night, you had a moment imagining what it would be like if your birth control suddenly failed. If this was the time that got you pregnant.
You were shocked by how badly you wanted that to happen.
But you didnât want to rush into it. You wanted to be absolutely certain that you were ready.
You lasted two days. Two days before you told Steve and Robin during dinner. Youâd all sat down with plates of pasta youâd spent the last hour cooking, and you didnât even let them get a bite before saying, âI want to have a baby.â
Forks clattered to the table, jaws dropped in surprise, and two sets of eyes started at you like youâd just said aliens were renting out the spare bedroom.
The shock didnât last long though, and Steveâs expression immediately softened. After all, you knew heâd been dreaming of having little nuggets of his own, and though heâd never pressured you, it was no secret that he was ready for this next step.
You werenât sure how Robin would react, and she surprised you by smiling as well, then saying, âAny baby made by the two of you will be the cutest thing on the planet.â
The next couple of weeks saw many conversations about babies, planning for one, and ultimately deciding that now is the time. And even though you all knew that you couldnât conceive so quickly after stopping your birth control, the second those pills went in the trash Steve was on you, pulling you to bed. This new found breeding kink was highly unsurprising when you thought about it.
And while you didnât get pregnant right away, it only took a couple of months for that little test to show a plus sign.
âOh my god,â Robin exclaimed. âHoly shit, youâre actually pregnant!â It was clear she wanted to pull you in for a hug, but she took a moment to calm herself so she could do so gently. As she held you in her arms you looked at Steve, eager to see his reaction.
The tears in his eyes hit you right in the hormones, leading you to cry as well. Soon the three of you were in a group embrace, tears falling as they took turns kissing your still flat belly.
The first trimester was rough, but Steve and Robin were always there getting you anything you needed, even when what you needed was to just have someone by your side as you puked for the hundredth time.
But only a couple of weeks later you had a bit of a scare. You started having different symptoms, ones that usually meant a miscarriage. After an immediate visit to your doctor you learned you werenât losing a baby, but actually gaining one.
Because you were pregnant with twins.
The three of you spent the rest of the day in shocked silence.
It wasnât until you were in bed that night that Robin said, âYou know, when you think about it, weâre kind of the best people to have twins. Sure, two babies, but at least thereâs three of us, right?â
That alone had all of you feeling more optimistic about the prospect. But as helpful and positive as Robin and Steve were, they werenât the one growing two humans inside of them.
You were, and you were doing an excellent job of it. At least you hoped you were considering how big your belly was quickly getting.
Youâre now thirteen weeks along, and with only two more weeks until Max and Lucasâs wedding, you know itâs time to tell people. The last thing you want to do is steal the spotlight from them, so you know you need to share your news ahead of time. Thereâs no way youâll be able to keep it a secret.
Your families are the first that you tell, all of them sharing their happiness and excitement.
Next you tell Joyce and Hopper. Theyâve been parental figures to you for years, and you canât wait to see their reactions.
The second you tell them, Joyce pulls you in for a hug, holding you close and immediately asking how youâre feeling. She gives you advice, and tells you to call her anytime you have a question. Hopper meanwhile is silent, but his soft expression and genuine smile tells you that heâs happy for you.
After them you tell Nancy and Jonathan, who have patched things up and gotten back together. Over fries and milkshakes at the diner, you all catch up and share whatâs been going on.
âGetting a head start on those six nuggets huh?â Nancy asks.
âSix?â You ask, your eyes wide at the idea of that many children.
âLetâs just start with two and see what happens,â Steve replies, his hand moving in soothing circles on your back.
Finally itâs time to tell the kids. Well, young adults now. You invite the five of them over for dinner, insisting that they sit through a civilized meal for once.
Youâd planned to tell them after the meal, but the second they get there Max figures you out. Itâs clear by the look on her face that she knows exactly whatâs going on.
She stays quiet at first, but halfway through the dinner she says, âSo, Y/N, anything you want to tell us?â
You narrow your eyes at her playfully, but then answer, "Actually there is. Iâm pregnant.â
Unsurprisingly the table erupts into chaos, the kids all shouting in excitement.
âIâm gonna be an uncle!â Dustin yells as he attacks Steve with a hug.
âI knew it!â Max shouts. âYoure having a baby!â
âNot quite,â Robin replies, sending everyone into a moment of confusion.
âIâm not having a baby,â you add, leading everyone to stare like youâve lost your mind. You wait a moment to add dramatic effect, then say, âIâm having two babies.â
âTwins?â Will shouts excitedly, from his spot next to Robin, and again the five of them collectively lose their minds.
You, Steve, and Robin barely get in another word that evening, as the kids continuously talk over each other about everything they canât wait to do with the twins.
âWait,â Mike interjects. âWhen do you find out if theyâre boys or girls?â
âNot for another month or so,â you answer.
âDo you have name ideas?â Lucas asks.
The three of you look at each other guilty, because the answer is no, you havenât thought of that yet.
âMax is a good name for a girl or a boy,â Max adds helpfully.
âNo,â Steve replies in his jokingly stern voice. âOur children will not be sharing a name with any of you.â
âThatâs fair,â Will answers pragmatically.
The rest of the evening goes well, the kids even pitching in to clean up, insisting that you rest and relax.
âWe should keep them,â you joke to Robin as you sit on the couch watching them work together to clean the kitchen.
âHereâs some water,â Lucas says, handing you a glass of ice water that you didnât even realize you wanted.
âI think group dinners are about to be a weekly thing,â Robin replies.
After they make your house spotless, the kids all head home leaving you with your two favorite people. You all get ready for bed, laying together and talking for a bit as you do every night.
âWe have a lot of wonderful people in our life,â you say as you reflect on everyoneâs reactions to your news.
âOur babies are very lucky,â Steve agrees as his hand finds your small bump.
Robin places a hand next to his and adds, âTheyâll have more grandparents and aunts and uncles then theyâll know what to do with.â
Again your hormones go into overdrive, happy tears spilling down your cheeks only to be gently wiped away by the two people laying beside you.
âWe should probably start thinking of what to name them though,â you finally say.
âSteven junior,â Steve states, earning him a glare and a âGet out,â from Robin. Your only response is to laugh and say, âNot happening.â
Itâs a happy time in your lives, and Max and Lucasâs wedding only adds to that joy.
Your baby bump is small, but definitely noticeable. Your dress accentuates it nicely without drawing too much attention. Even so, Steve canât keep his hands off, one resting on your belly at almost every moment, his big hand practically covering the entire thing.
Itâs half because heâs so proud to be making new tiny humans with you, half because his protective instincts are in overdrive. Especially at such a busy event, he canât help but feel the need to protect.
Robin feels the same, except in a more casual way. She hovers nearby, subtly stepping between you and anyone who gets too close. Especially random relatives of Lucas and Max who, while meaning well, have no reason to try and touch your belly. And yet, itâs like every person over 60 is magnetically drawn to it.
All in all, itâs a beautiful wedding, and seeing Max and Lucas officially get married after everything theyâve suffered through together makes it feel like all is right in the world. Like nothing bad can ever happen again.
So really it should come as no surprise that just two days later, everything suddenly changes.
The day starts normal, Robin heading to work while you and Steve enjoy a slow summer morning. You kiss him goodbye when he leaves to coach the summer middle school baseball camp.
You spend the time heâs away cleaning, but youâre uncomfortable throughout. You realize that the waistband of your underwear is way too tight now, so you leave a note explaining where youâll be and start to walk to the store.
Steve gets home first and sees your note. He figures youâll be back soon, but then Robin gets home and still youâre not there. They give you a little longer and decide theyâll go looking if youâre not back by dinner time.
But then comes a crackling noise, one Steve hasnât heard in years. One that he associates with trouble.
He hears Dustinâs voice calling for him, followed by the words Steve has grown to dread: âWe have a code red.â
He quickly grabs the walkie and says, âWhatâs wrong?â
âJust meet at the Wheelers ASAP!â Dustin yells. âOver and out!â
âBut Dustin! Dustin! Damnit!â Steve shouts when his attempts to contact the younger boy go without answer.
âYou go,â Robin says. âIâll wait here for when Y/N gets back. You should find out whatâs going on.â
âOkay. But you call when she gets here, okay?â
âOf course. And Iâll use the actual landline like real adults. And you call with an update about whatever Dustin needs.â
After promising to contact each other with any news, they share a reassuring hug, and Steve is out the door to get to the Wheelerâs.
The moment he walks into the basement he realizes why Dustin was so urgent, and why Steve had to learn what was happening in person. Because thereâs no way he wouldâve believed Dustin if he'd said âEl is aliveâ. And yet, she is. Sheâs standing there right in the middle of the basement as though sheâd never left.
And really, it is like she never left. Because she hasnât changed at all.
While everyone else has aged a few years, sheâs exactly as she was the day she died.
âWhat is happening?â Steve asks.
âEl came back,â Dustin states.
âNo shit. I see her. But, how?â He asks, looking right at her for an explanation.
âI wish I had better news,â she begins. âBut Iâm not the only one back. Henry is alive again too. He found some loophole, a way to distort time. He pulled us from 1987, right before everything went down.â
âI hate to ask, but does he have a plan for ending the world again?â Steve questions.
âIâm sure thatâs his final goal. But first heâs trying to do what the government failed at. He wants to use his blood to make more people like him. Like me. Us.â
âAnd how is he going to do that?â Steve asks, though heâs terrified to hear the answer.
âHe plans to kidnap pregnant women and give them a mix of his blood and psychedelic drugs.â
âOf course he is,â Steve says with a hysterical laugh before his knees give out. Lucas sees this happening and helps him aim for the couch, and Steve collapses onto the cushion with his face in his hands.
âWhatâs wrong?â El asks.
When Steve doesnât answer Dustin explains, âY/N is pregnant.â
Will adds, âSteve is the father.â
âTheyâre married,â Max explains.
âTo each other and also Robin,â Mike states. âItâs like a throuple thing.â
âOh. That makes sense,â El replies, thinking back to the time sheâd seen the three of them making out in a storage closet at the radio station.
Then she says, âHenry was very specific in who he was going after, so Iâm sure Y/N is safe.â
âWho specifically does he want?â Max asks.
âHe wants to increase the odds of it working, so he only wants people pregnant with twins.â
This news has Steve nearly throwing up from the stress, so Dustin says, âHey, Y/N will be okay. Weâll keep her safe. Thereâs way more of us than there is of him.â
âYea, you guys can come stay here where there are more people,â Mike suggests. âOr we can take turns staying at your place as guards. You should call and get her and Robin here to talk about a plan.â
âWhere are they anyway?â Will asks.
Steve takes a deep breath then replies, âRobinâs at home waiting for Y/N. She went to run a couple of errands.â
Max picks up on his tone and says, âShe shouldâve been back by now, shouldnât she?â
âYea,â Steve says, clearly in pain now. âHours ago.â
Max takes charge, looking first to Will and saying, âCall your mom, we need her and Hopper.â She then turns to Mike and adds, âYou can reach Nancy at work right? Tell her whatâs going on so she and Jonathan can help too. Weâll split up and search for her. Steve, you should head home and be with Robin.â
âI canât,â he says. âI canât sit around. Iâll go crazy. I need to help.â
âOkay. Will, why donât you wait with Robin and see if you can tap into Henryâs mind like you used to.â
âIâll try, but Iâm not sure it will work.â
âI know. We just need to try everything.â
âYou two are close,â Steve says, looking at Will. âYou and Robin. You talk. I need you to fill her in on everything and be there for her, okay?â
âOf course,â Will says before heading out with his fully charged walkie.
Soon after he leaves, Joyce, Hopper, Nancy, and Jonathan arrive. Murray and Mr. Clark also show up, apparently summoned by Dustin, and they split up into pairs and assign a section of Hawkins to each team.
They search for hours. But when it reaches midnight they meet back at your place. The moment everyone gets there Robin is up, running to Steve. He pulls her close, hugs her tight, and she finally lets her tears fall.
âItâs okay, Rob,â Steve soothes. âWeâll find her. I promise.â He presses a kiss to her head, trying to calm himself as much as her.
âYou two should get some sleep,â Joyce says. âSome of us will stay here tonight, and weâll regroup after everyoneâs rested.â
Steve and Robin are too exhausted to argue, so they both head upstairs and get ready. They leave a space between them, your open space, but by the time they wake up theyâve drifted together.
Thereâs a moment of silence, your absence weighing heavily on them.
But then Robin breaks the quiet morning and asks, âDid you check the lab?â
It takes Steveâs brain a second to reboot, but then he replies, âYea. Nancy and Jonathan went there. They didnât have time to search it top to bottom, but they looked for any signs that someone had been there and didnât find any.â
âI think we should go back. I mean, thatâs the nexus of all this crazy shit. You guys spread out yesterday, maybe itâs time to do more thorough searches of a few main locations.â
Steve takes in the idea and says, âOkay. Yea, okay. Letâs start there.â
They spend another moment in the safety of their bed before getting dressed for the day. When they get downstairs everyone else is already there eating breakfast. Robin shares her idea and everyone agrees, making a list of a few places to check more extensively if the lab doesnât have any answers.
Instead of splitting up they all go together, the building so large that it will take all of them working together to search the entire place. They do separate into a couple of teams once they get there, each taking a different floor to explore.
Steve and Robin are joined by Dustin and Will, the two boys offering reassurances as the other two grow more distressed by how clearly empty the building is.
But then their walkies crackle, and Nancyâs voice comes through saying, âEveryone, come to the second floor.â
They practically sprint to get there, hopeful that Nancy may have found something useful.
Once the entire group is together they look to Nancy, confused because this room seems just as abandoned as all the rest.
âJonathan, show them,â is all she says.
Jonathan picks up his flashlight and holds it over the hospital bed. Suddenly the dim light glows brighter, and with their history, they all immediately pick up on what this means.
âSomeone here,â Mike says.
âBut not here,â Lucas adds.
âHere in the Upsidedown,â Will concludes.
âHow do we get there?â Robin asks. âIs there a gate nearby?â
âThere used to be one in the basement,â Steve answers, already turning to go and find it.
âHarrington, wait,â Hopper commands.
âWait? My wife is missing! That Henry creep could be experimenting on her right now!â
âFirst of all, we donât even know if this light is really her. And you storming in there will only get you hurt. We need a plan. And we need more weapons.â
âFine. You all go get ready. But Iâm staying here. If this light moves I need to be here to follow it.â
âIâm staying too,â Robin replies.
âNancy and I will stay with them,â Jonathan adds.
With that settled the others leave. Steve and Robin sit cross legged on the bed, the flashlight placed between them. No one speaks. They just sit. And wait. And hold on to the desperate hope that youâre there with them.
After what feels like an eternity everyone else gets back. They carry what looks to be an armory, and then Dustin says, âWeâve mapped out the best way to get here from the gate. Weâre focusing on rescue. If we have an opportunity to end Henry we take it, but thatâs not the main objective. Got it?â
Steve and Robin nod, and though they of course want to kill Henry, they really donât care what happens so long as they get you back.
As they make their way to the gate, Robin slips a hand in Steveâs. Heâd rather have two hands to defend them if he needs to, but he knows Robin. He knows that if sheâs nervous enough to initiate this contact, that he needs to be there to help ground her. Keep her from spiraling.
When they reach the gate every single person there takes a moment to come to terms with the fact that years after they thought all this bullshit was over, theyâre heading back to a place they never want to go to again.
But if youâre truly in the Upsidedown, then every last one of them is willing to dive in and do everything they can to save you.
They walk through the gate, and are met with nothing. No demos of any kind. No bad guy trying to stop them. Itâs eerie how easy it is to walk through the halls.
And then, just before they reach their destination, El says, âHeâs here. I donât know where, but I can sense him.â
Slowly and carefully they move forward, Steve and Robin finally sneaking into the correct room.
âOh my god,â Robin cries quietly.
Because there you are. Laying on the bed, looking unhurt but clearly unconscious.
âHeâs coming, you have to move now!â El warns. Hopper steps in, quickly and carefully removing the IV thatâs in your arm and then Steve is lifting you, ready to carry you to safety. Thereâs no time for a happy reunion yet, not when they have to run back to the gate, then out of the lab for fear that Henry is following.
Once Steve and Robin settle in the back of Nancyâs car with you in Steveâs lap, they can finally take a deep breath of relief. Youâre here. Youâre back. Youâre breathing.
But youâre not responding.
They have no idea what youâve been through, or what was being given through that IV. They donât know if there will be lasting effects on you or the babies.
They donât know when youâll wake up. If youâll wake up.
âBaby, weâre here,â Steve says. âWeâve got you. Youâre safe now.â
Robin strokes your hair and adds, âCome back to us. Please. We need you.â
They continue to hold you and whisper reassurances the whole way to the hospital. Nancy drops the three of you off, but when you enter only Steve is allowed to go back with you.
Itâs one of the hardships of the relationship the three of you have. The way that legally, you and Robin arenât connected, arenât considered family even though you are.
âJust stay by her side,â Robin says. âDonât let her out of your sight.â
Steve nods at her command then walks through the doors to do exactly as Robin said.
She begins to pace, but soon is joined by everyone else. After what feels like an eternity a nurse steps out and asks for her.
âIâm Robin! Is Y/N okay?â
âYes, sheâs going to be fine,â the nurse replies. âSheâs awake now, though still a bit groggy. She was asking for you.â
Without hesitation Robin starts walking, then pauses when she realizes she doesnât know what way to go. The nurse catches up and leads her to your room.
Robin pauses at the door, taking in the sight of you in the hospital bed. She reminds herself that this time youâre in the real world, and Steve is sitting beside you. That youâre no longer in the Upsidedown being held hostage by a supernatural sociopath.
Your eyes groggily move, searching around the room until they land on Robin. Once she sees this sheâs snapped out of her stupor and walks in to sit on your other side. This hand has a new IV in it which she doesnât want to disturb, so she settles for placing a gentle hand on your leg, stroking back and forth in an attempt to comfort you.
Once you have both of your partners beside you, you feel safe. Relaxed.
âYou can rest, baby. Weâll be here,â Steve says, and your eyes slip shut again.
âWhat did the doctor say?â Robin asks.
âSheâs got a couple bumps and scratches but nothing major. And they did a blood test. It only showed sedatives, so it seems like we got her before Henry could really start his plan,â Steve explains.
âThank god,â Robin says. âAnd the babies?â
âTheyâre good. They did an ultrasound and said everything seems normal.â
Tears of relief fall down Robin's face, and Steve reaches his free hand to her.
Thatâs how they stay for the next couple of hours while you rest and rehydrate. By dinnertime youâre being discharged, Steve and Robin listening closely to all care instructions.
You sit between them on the way home, and note that everyone comes to the house as well.
Youâre more alert by now, and the first thing you want is a shower. Unsurprisingly both Steve and Robin come with you, not caring about how strange it is to take a group shower with all of your friends just downstairs.
The two of them help you wash off all the grime from the Upsidedown, taking special care to be gentle near any of your injuries. They then press kisses to those cuts and bruises as they dry you off and help you get dressed.
With all three of you clean you head back downstairs, greeted by the smell of delicious food. When you see everyone gathered, and realize that Joyce has made homemade dinner for all of you, tears spring to your eyes. You canât believe the love and support you have, and knowing they all risked their lives to save you has you overwhelmed.
Joyce sees this, and doesnât hesitate to come wrap you in a hug. Itâs so comforting, the touch of a mother, and you lean into the embrace. When you pull back her hand goes to your belly and says, âIâve already made you a plate. You and the babies need some food.â
âThank you,â you reply, âI really appreciate you helping with everything.â
âOf course sweetie. You helped save my baby years ago, I was only returning the favor.â
Itâs a moment of levity, but when everyone sits down to eat the tone of the room is serious.
âSo how are we going to stop Henry this time?â Lucas asks.
At the reminder that your kidnapper is still out there, both Steve and Robin place a hand on your legs. Itâs as though youâd suddenly disappear if they werenât in contact with you. Itâs comforting to them, and honestly, makes you feel better too.
Hopper turns to you and says, âWhat do you remember about being taken by him?â
âNot much,â you reply. âHe found me while I was walking to the store. Caught me by surprise and dragged me into an alley. I tried to fight him off but he injected me with something and knocked me out. I was unconscious for most of the time he had me. And when I was awake everything was fuzzy. I donât know what he was planning. He never spoke to me.â
âThatâs unlike him,â Nancy says. âNormally he canât shut up,â she adds, remembering her encounter with him and how heâd explained every detail of his life and plan.
Youâre too tired, too traumatized to listen as they discuss Henry and how to deal with him. You tune them out, finishing your dinner then resting your head on Robin's shoulder. Her hand moves to the side of your head, her fingers sliding comfortingly through your hair. Your eyes drift closed as you focus on just her, letting the sounds of voices soothe you, remind you that youâre surrounded by people.
With this reassurance that youâre home, you allow yourself to fall asleep right there at the table. Steve notices this, watching you with the softest expression.
âCan you get her up to bed?â Robin asks.
âYea, I've got her,â he replies, adjusting his arms so that he can cradle you in them and carry you upstairs. He lays you in bed and stays with you while Robin gets her pajamas. They switch so Steve can get ready as well and finally theyâre laying with you in between them.
They each have a hand on you, needing to feel that youâre there in order for them to fall asleep as well. Soon, all three of you are resting, but of course that doesnât last the whole night.
You havenât had any nightmares in at least a year, but it shouldnât be surprising that getting abducted by Henry would bring them back.
Steve and Robin are so in tune with you that theyâre up the moment the first sound of distress leaves your mouth.
âYouâre okay,â Steve says, Robin adding, âYouâre safe baby, youâre home now.â
Their kind words and gentle touches settle you again, but the dreams come back, waking you up two more times throughout the night.
Youâre all still tired the next day, so maybe itâs a good thing that no progress is made when it comes to tracking down Henry. Steve and Robin stay by your side, one of them even following each time you need the bathroom. And while this may be a bit overbearing, youâre truly terrified of what might happen, so having them with you makes you feel safe.
You also notice the nail bat has come out of storage, somehow traveling from room to room and resting nearby at all times.
It comes in handy the following day.
Nearly 48 hours after arriving home, Henry makes another move, sending in a demogorgon to try and bring you back to the Upsidedown.
As soon as it crashes through the window Robin pulls you upstairs, into the walk in closet of your bedroom. She knows itâs not the best solution, but hopes it puts enough space between you and the monster that everyone else has time to kill it.
Itâs terrifying to listen and not be able to see whatâs happening. Every growl makes you think someone is hurt, each snarl sending a chill through you at the thought of the creature advancing on someone you love.
Itâs also weird to be hiding, rather than fighting. You used to be right there next to Steve and the others facing down the demos and whatever else was thrown your way. But right now your top priority is the safety of your babies. Which is why your arms are wrapped tight around your belly and you lean into Robin's side, trying to believe the positive words sheâs whispering to try and calm you both.
Eventually the house goes quiet, and you hear footsteps approaching. Human footsteps.
Youâd recognize Steveâs walk in a heartbeat, and yet youâre still scared when the door begins to open. But thereâs no monster. Only your husband.
âDid you kill it?â Robin asks.
The two of you make no move to leave the closet so Steve instead sits down with you.
âNo. A group followed it to the Upsidedown. Theyâre hoping itâll lead them to Henry again and they can kill him.â
âOh.â Robin answers. âIâm sure nothing will go wrong with that.â
âI know. But itâs the best theyâve got. Max, Lucas, and Will are still here in case anything happens.â
None of you move to get out of the closet. Instead you settle in further, resting against Steveâs side. He wraps his arms around you, holding you tight. Robin pets through your hair again, a move she does to soothe both of you.
Youâre not sure how long the three of you stay like that, but itâs long enough that the others downstairs start to worry. They come up to find you, and immediately understand why youâre still hiding away. Instead of trying to reassure you all, or get you out of the closet, they bring water and snacks.
A blanket is found and wrapped around you, and your exhaustion wins out over the stress, leading you to fall asleep. You rest until a loud noise startles you awake. Before you know whatâs happening youâre back in Robin's arms, Steve rushing to find the source of the noise.
The two of you wait anxiously, but Steveâs back only a couple minutes later.
âThey got him,â he says excitedly.
âWho? Henry? Already?â Robin inquires.
âYes! Caught him totally off guard. Câmon, come downstairs and theyâll explain.â
He helps you both stand and leads you down to the living room where everyone has gathered. He has you sit on the couch before he joins you, him and Robin sandwiching you between them.
You listen intently as the others explain what happened in the Upsidedown, and how they defeated Henry. Thereâs a rare air of celebration in the room. Not only is Henry gone, but El is back. You canât help but notice the way Hopper stays close to her, like he canât believe sheâs real.
After thanking everyone for saving you and getting rid of the threat, they all head home.
They all feel as though the job is done.
But for Steve and Robin, that feeling of relief hasn't come yet. Theyâre still worried, still scared that something is going to happen to you. Maybe not interdimensional creatures, but really anything. Everything feels like a new threat.
And while theyâre definitely being overprotective, you truly canât blame them.
For the rest of your pregnancy they come up with a schedule to ensure youâre never left alone. At no point do you feel overwhelmed or smothered. You know why theyâre doing it, and it truly makes you feel safe.
They recruit the others, and you enjoy getting to spend time with everyone. But as much as you love whoever is with you, youâre glad itâs Joyce and Hopper there when you go into labor.
Youâre early, but not worryingly so. Steve and Robin rush back, clearly frazzled, and Hopper takes a moment to talk to them and calm them down. He coaches them on how to best support you.
Joyce meanwhile is a relaxing presence, guiding you through breathing exercises and reassuring you that everything is going just as it should be.
And when itâs time to go to the hospital, Joyce and Hopper are happy to drive the three of you there. Thankfully this time Robin is allowed to be with you as another support person, and she and Steve stay by your side the entire time.
Your two perfect daughters are born just after midnight. Itâs not much later that youâre laying in bed and taking time to catch your breath when you look up and see a baby cradled in the arms of each of your partners.
Itâs been a long, scary journey to get to this point. But in a way youâre grateful for it. Because thereâs one thing you know with absolute certainty: Steve and Robin will do anything and everything to keep you and your babies safe.
And in a world as crazy as yours, thatâs all that matters.

AN: thanks for reading!
I think Iâm going to do one more part to this, since I want to end on something sweet and spicy. Still brainstorming, but Iâm thinking something roughly a year after this where the party babysits and Steve Robin and reader get a night alone (if you know what I mean đđ)
