This story has been hard and long for me to share. Months ago, we were hiring an educational tutor to help our House of Hope kids with their school work. After hiring THREE (yes, THREE), well-educated tutors, they said, “NO” to a paycheck and to teaching our kids simply because they are living with HIV. I still can’t believe some people are so “stupid” yet, however, we have been blessed with an amazing Tutor, Ashwini, who loves our kids, who teaches our kids and mostly empowers our kids to know they are more than HIV or AIDS. HIV stigma is alive and well. And it’s one of the many reasons we do what we do! The problem with suffering from mental health is that no one can see the battle that wears you down. Wears you down enough that you don't know that last time you had multiple good days. I woke up Friday morning in a good mood. It didn't last the whole day. For those who prayed and sent good thoughts my way, thank you. They were felt. It sucks to have a chemically imbalanced brain that I can't control naturally. It's frustrating to not to be able to handle emotions in a healthy way. It's draining to deal with suicidal ideation when I have no desire to die. I still have much to do and accomplish in my life.
