BAH OTHER ONE GET FUVKDED!!!!! (I forgot I had a tumblr for a bit and drew this yesterday so double post ooOoooOO)
Stickfighter (B.J. Davis, 1994)
I think this pretty much covers the dimension Dean’s looks warped into during the 1970s.
Rough categories: plastered down; shorter & parted; shorter curls; wispy ‘fro; parted and so long it looks terrible; curly mullet; and curly ponytail.
I’m so glad I read this magazine okay because here are some juicy details about the movie Stickfighter:
-It was delayed for 2 weeks because of a tropical storm, that’s about the least of the movie’s problems -John Drew Barrymore was originally cast as the exciting character simply named Old Man. The first week of shooting he left without telling anyone. -Dean Stockwell went to the Philippines 5 days after being offered the role. He wasn’t interested in it at all except for the fact he got to take a free trip. -He’d never done any prior martial arts but on the second day of shooting was doing a samurai fencing scene; apparently he picked it up pretty quick. -He didn’t care about that though and became super interested in Arnis, aka stickfighting, and got additional lessons at night in his hotel room. -The guy who played his brother got super annoyed at him bc he didn’t want to practice samurai stuff, he wanted to practice Arnis. -Stockwell got so invested in this he wanted to bring Arnis to the USA, but since no one was really practicing it there he just decided to start up his own classes in his back yard. -The article pretends practicing for a few months makes him an expert at this (he apparently did get a black belt during shooting though). -The article likens the noise of the Arnis lessons to “a pair of amorous woodpeckers” -The article frequently refers to Stockwell as an athletic actor, which is not really a word I associate with him. -We’re treated to many descriptions of Dean Stockwell just slamming back beers during the lessons -Many, many times we’re told how dedicated he is to the art and how he’ll never stop (he did). -He roped a bunch of his friends into it bc he was so excited and when asked what they like about Arnis they just keep repeating his quote about it being good for the left side of the body. -The dog in the pics was his dog and is super cute. -There are some choice quotes about the first time Stockwell saw the Twist and it blew his mind and required such technique. -Even in 1974 Dean Stockwell just wanted to be in comedies but everyone kept casting him as psychos. Let the man tell jokes!! -Oh there’s a complete description of the plot of the movie from beginning to end so I hope no one who picked up this magazine intended to watch this film.

Have you ever seen this classic?
Can’t say I have. With a name like that, it sounds like one of those cheesy American martial arts films made in the 90′s. You know, like “American Shaolin”.
Dean is skipping across the water while everyone else is just running after him, lol.
